Re: Shower Question

She doesn't have to say anything but if she wants to she can just thank everyone for coming and tell you how much she loves you etc. I did this at my shower because my mom was a little nervous to get up and talk in front of the whole room.

Re: Shower Question

The MOH gave the toast at my friend's shower this summer.

At mine, I didn't so much as give a toast as I did just say a thank you to everyone for coming and celebrating with me (we all had wine to toast after my thank you).

I guess anyone can do it. I would just say something (or have them say something) from the heart and call it a day.

Re: Shower Question

At mine (since I really hate talking in front of everyone) one of my BM's told everyone Thanks for coming who all the girls in the BP were and that food was about to be served.

Than after all the gifts I said a thank you and that I hoped to see them all at the Wedding......HTH

I don't I've ever attended a shower that someone gave a toast. Just the bride thanking everyone.

Re: Shower Question

Nobody gave a toast at my shower either. My MOH thanked everyone for coming and said that I would like to announce my Bridal party that was there with me that day. So I stood up and did that and also announced my Mom, Grandma and Godmother. I actually don't think I have ever been to a shower where there was a toast.

Re: Shower Question

Both my mom and FMIL made little speeches about me. It was very nice of them to prepare something. From the other posts, it looks like this is optional. At most showers I have been to, someone made a little speech about the bride-to-be, but I don't think it is mandatory and wouldn't worry about it!

Same here - I have not seen the MOB give a toast, except at one shower she gave a little speech thanking everyone for coming and that she wishes her daughter and future son in law a very happy marriage.

My mom and MOH hosted my shower, but my mom did not give a toast. She went around to all the tables to introduce herself and to thank them for coming. My MOH gave a short speech about knowing me all these years, wishing us happiness, etc.

Re: Shower Question

My mom gave a toast. It was very sweet and sappy, but I think off the top of her head. She said something about me already getting the best gift of all and that's FH (yes, sometimes I think she likes him better than me. )

Re: Shower Question

We didnt have a toast either, however i gave a teeny tiny speech thanking everyone for coming and thanking my mom and FMIL and my sister for planning everything.

Sometimes it's better not to plan something like that, and just go with the flow of the day.

Re: Shower Question

i dont think she HAS to give a toast. she can if she wants to of course but i dont think everyone will be expecting it.

or maybe the MOH would like to make a toast, but again. i dont think it is unnacceptable if nobody makes one! JMO!
