Is anyone having a jack and jill shower? How did you decide if you would do that? Party part of me wants all girls but I have a very small family and my invite list is very small with all girls (about 18 people). Do you just invited people you are really close with or is it okay to invite people you are friends with but not really close to. And what about inviting people out of state. I know they probably can't come but should we invite them anyway?

I wanted to do one however if we did it that way there would have been just toooo many people. There were 2 people that were invited that I wouldnt say I was close close friends with but friendly with. there were also people invited from out of town. Some didmt come and some did.

FH made it easy for me and said he didn't want to come! So that already brings my list way down. Even though my shower is going to be a surprise and I'm not supposed to have anything to do with it. I suggesteed that I have close family and friends and a few ladies from FH's side because I don't want to have a prequel to my wedding. I have enough ppl coming to tah already. I think the less people you have the more intimate of an affair and depending on who's paying-It's cheaper! But JMO...

I am not sure if I would have both come to the shower-- I want the bachelor party to be done together but I think the shower should be for the girls--I would invite more people and if in the end it is still a small number just stick with it.. those people are the ones who matter

We held a bridal shower for my friend where we did the gifts and bridal stuff, while the guys had their own get together at a bar, and then at a set time we all met up together and went to to lounge to drink and toast the bride and groom.

If you had an engagement party, I definitely wouldn't do a jack & jill shower. Most men I know would not be into the idea of that sort of thing, and DH definitely wasn't. Plus, it was such a nice afternoon spent with just the women.
I wouldn't add the men in just to make a larger guest list. Small & intimate showers are nice!
Everyone there doesn't have to be your closest friend, but you should have a good relationship with them.
I would only invite OOT people you are really close to, they might surprise you and make the trip for it.

My FH doesn't want to have a coed shower. He'd rather be watching a game Which is good for me cause I want a small intimate shower at my house or my grandma's house.

I agree i doin't think any man wants to do a shower. Just not their thing...but...that idea of meeting up after could be fun. I'm doing the standard shower.

i dont plan on doing one, i dont think FH would be interested in the things i get at the shower anyway since most will be for the house, i think guys will get bored fast, something that they def. wont be interested in coming to. ive never been to one either

I will be having all women except for a few men from the family like FH, my brother, my father, FFIL and a cousin. They will probably sit in another room to eat and drink and then help bring all the gifts to the car.
Just remember, whoever you invite to the shower should also be invited to the wedding.

I did have one, DH would have NEVER sat there and opened gifts etc. I only had about 20-25 people at my shower. I liked it better that way.
