To those of you who have done this already- Im starting to write my shower thank yous and im wondering if you wrote down in the card specifically what they got u. My BM wrote down who gave what but its kinda hard to think of something clever to write lol....thanks for the iron sounds weird to me....did you all do this?

for many of them yes i did write what they wrote and said something like 'oh cant wait to have you over for drinks' for example when someone gave me a bar set. But some gifts were hard to say something cute so i just said thank you for your generous gift, along with thanking them for coming to my shower, and some i added thank you for being part of this special time in our lives. Then at the end i wrote cant wait to see you at the wedding or looking forward to seeing you at the wedding

I just finished mine and yes I did. I did something like:
Dear Nancy,
Thank you so much for coming to my shower, and for the appetizer bowls. I really love them! I can not wait to entertain in my apartment so I can use them!
I really appreciate it and I cant wait to see you at the wedding (she rsvpd yes)

i started writing mine and it really depends on who gave you what ...i know for my coffee make i wrote ' I cant wait to have you over for coffee one afternoon'

thanks girls!! yea so far for the first few i've done i have been writing cute things like u mentioned, like 'cant wait to have u over for drinks' etc. but its getting harder! the teacher in me is trying really hard to find something creative to write lol thanks for the suggestions!

That is pretty much exactly what I did too! I used generous gift for cash gifts though. I wanted to make sure they knew I appreciated the gift they gave us and we knew what it was!

I just did mine this weekend...my skeleton was:
'We are so happy you joined us at my bridal shower. Thank you so much for your thoughtful and generous gift(s).'
If decorative piece: [The ____was gorgeous and will make an excellent addition in our new home. It will be placed in our ____, front and center]
If an item I use: The ___was gorgeous and I cannot wait to _______ with ____. -OR- you know we will need ______ in the (last name) household!!!
Monetary gift: We already used the money to purchase __________.
We look forward to seeing you on our big day.

The thank yous for my close friends were more personal and our parents were also more personal. It took allll weekend but I'm so happy it's finally done...now i just have to get stamps...GOOD LUCK with yours!!!

I wrote novels in each of my thank you cards I put in how happy i was that they came to celebrate my shower, and how thankful i am for the gift that they bought, i wrote specifially what gift it was, and how excited i am to use it. i really personalized each card, I cant stand when i get a generic thank you card.
Once for a wedding we went to, we gave a very generous gift...and the bride wrote in the thank you card, 'thanks for coming to our wedding'
I was kinda ticked off about that, no mention of the gift or anything.

thanks girls!! DiamondPipa- great ideas for what to write! I did my close family and friends already and wrote a lotttt, those were easy, so thank you for some ideas for the other guests. I agree- I definitely like getting a personalized thankyou too!

Yup, I wrote personalized thank you's, which addressed the specific gifts I was purchased. It took FOREVER to write them out, but I think I did a good job....my shower was one week ago yesterday and they were mailed out on Saturday!
