She told my sister that she was going to send her a list of her invites. I told my sister that we could pick a few from there and add them, if that was cool with her. That way we could give her a few guests, but not get out of control. And I had already included FH's close family, friends, and her best friend in my original list anyway.
Weeellll, my sister just emailed me her 'Shower List'. It is literally 88 people long (including husbands!) and includes multiple people THAT AREN'T INVITED TO THE WEDDING!
I think she does this to purposely make my life more difficult

Maybe your sis will be the 'bad guy' and tell her no men (that cuts some) and that normally only people invited to the wedding go to the shower and you can not accomadate the other people on her list (not invited to the wedding)

your nicer than me. my sisters arent asking FMIL for a list. We are inviting, SIX people from FH's side. the wedding is OURS the shower is MINE (and i can cry if i want to, lol) ... i could SO see FMIL giving a list of 35 ppl for my 40 person shower

omg! then yes i totally feel you on the 'wanting to bang my head into a wall' my family doesnt really talk to FMIL. My sisters refuse to 'be her fb friend' also.

oy that is such a pain!!!!!!!! forgetting about husbands (which makes no sense unless it's a jack n jill shower), how can you want to invite someone you aren't even inviting to the wedding!?

that's absolutely ridiculous - 1) for inviting husbands 2) for inviting ppl taht arent even invited to the wedding. Talk to her of your FH about this. good luck!

maybe you should tell her she can only have a certain number of people otherwise she has to pay for them
that's what we're doing for mine - i have 30 women on my side, 10 friends and we're giving FMIL 20 total. if she wnats to invite more that's fine, but she has to pay if more than 20 come. my mom just can't afford it any other way and she's paying for the shower.

definitely tell her that husbands are not invited!!! that will cut out a lot - and then explain it to her that only ppl invited to teh actual wedding are invited to the shower. I actualyl had to do this with my mom! haha her side of the list was insane!
and whats with the *'s on the list?! are there people without that? and the highlighting? wow... the shower is yours! If you don't know these people - dont invite them!!
