So i'm not home very often in NY (FH and I are in Mexico for the next year or two) and my mom wants to plan a shower for next summer. July 4th weekend to be exact. I kinda have to know about it since i'm only home for about 3 weeks then plus i would know since friends are flying in. July would be 6 months prior to the wedding. Is that too early??
I may not be home much in the fall so that was the best time i think. Also would it be weird if my friends threw a bachelorette party that early before the wedding?? Most of them are from Canada and would only be there a few days before the actual wedding and we may not have time then. Anyone in this situation?

In your situation, I dont think thats too early. Its earlier than most but I dont remember seeing a rule about early bridal showers Go for it

i say go for it!!!!!!!!!!! there are no rules that say when/how u have to do it. and if it's convenient for u and the other grls, then plan if for then. no big deal. it'll be great!

I dont think its to early at all. I am having my shower/bach party around the same time as you are and we are getting married about 2 weeks apart. Because both of us are in school I didnt want to have it during the fall semester so the summer before was the only time that was good for us too

Its fine.....go for it! there is no reason not to. Just make sure you register in plenty of time for it.
