First off, believe me I am an animal lover (a dog groomer by profession) and I would be absolutely ethical in thier treatment and care. But I am having a beach themed wedding and wanted to incorporate that into the cp's. So, I thought fish cp's would be very pretty. I went to Michaels crafts and saw these glass containers (for lack of a better word). They round, circular in shape but had low sides, container was not spherical only about 4 or 5 inches tall, but wide diameter. Wish I could pull up a pic, it's hard to explain. So have the container on teh table with those pretty pearlized rocks/ marbles in them, or aquarium sand, the fish swimming a round and a lilly floating on top.

Just one question (b/c I feel compelled to ask)... what do you plan to do with all these fish after the wedding?
Also, do some searches on this topic. There have been many girls who went to weddings with 'live' CPs where some of the fish did not survive the wedding day.

Cute idea - I saw a wedding where they did this. Beautiful! And they let guests take home the fish!

I used to work in the business, def. check with your RH about this. Many, and most, will not let you bring living animals into the RH. Seriously, its a board of health issue.

I am an animal lover as well, especially with birds, but I really like your idea on the fish CP's, pretty rocks or cyrstals at the bottom, and you can do different colored sans will look very pretty and very different and maybe someone can take them home at the end of the night, something like this??:

I personally cannot look a fish when I eat. It grosses me out. But, if you enjoy animals thats great. Just make sure they aren't going to die.

i agree. ask your hall before anything--and as another poster said, what if the fish don't survive the day for some reason---it would be so weird for guests to have to eat dinner with a dead fish in the bowl!

I am dead serious, its a big health code violation to bring in living animals to a catering hall, TRUST ME!

Re: Siamese Fighting Fish centerpeices.
even if they were properly treated, I'd feel bad for the little guys... especially if they were swimming among flower stems
(I must confess, I LOVE fish.... so it would likely tug on my heart strings more than others...) good point Kara and Todd brought up.... and I'm afraid to hear the answer.... what do people normally do with their centerpiece fish after the reception

it sounds like a great idea. i personally would love it. i am the kind that watches the jackass movie while eating dinner. but i know of alot of people who get major scieved by something like that.. especially when fish is on the menu. so i'd re-think it.

Bad idea to let (or expect) the guests to take them home. I wouldn't want to take a new pet home from a wedding. I'm not trying to be disagreeable. I just think live CPs are not a good idea.

we thought about doing this too and after talking with a few florists, they all said 'please don't do it' one florist said they even heard stories of people getting really drunk at the wedding and then using the poor little guys for 'sushi'. ugh, how sick is that?! we were also wondering what would happen to them after the wedding and didn't want to think about the fact that they'd probably just be flushed or something!!

oh god i was thinking about that, i was gonna say what about stupid drunk guests, i know somebody who would SOOO do that, and think infact they have done stupid things like that...Also if theres kids they might want to put there hand in the bowl to get the fish, not sure if kids will be at the wedding though
