sick to my stomach over this

Hi Ladies,
This is a weird situation. Here goes:
I was looking at the inside of my wedding band the other day b/c I was contemplating whether or not to get it engraved.

Well to my horror, I saw the initials R&N stamped insided my ring directly opposite the 18K stamp. I immediately got sick to my stomach b/c the first thing I thought was OMG my jeweler sold me a used band!!! My jewler was Jewels and Gems in the diamond district, so it's not like R&N stands for my jeweler's name or anything.

I know there's not much I can do now other than take it back to my jeweler and ask him about it, or get it dipped or something. But it's just so upsetting b/c the thought of having someone else's ring is such a horrible thought.

We couldn't afford to have a band made, so we just picked one out. I would assume that if a jeweler WAS going to re-sell a used ring, they would dip it themselves and not expose the original engraving. I do remember my jeweler telling me that he had to prepare my wedding band by 'matching the gold' to my engagement ring. So I WANT to believe that these 'initials' were done by him for some sort of purpose. But who knows.

Anyway, sorry this is so long. Just wanted to see what you girls thought or if anyone has had a similar experience.

I would bring it to a local jewler and ask them if it stands for something.

How long have you had it? can you return it?

Before you get too upset, I would go right to the jewelers and find out.

I agree.

I think if they were going to sell used rings and not tell you they would be more careful about it.

Speak to the jeweler and find out what that is. There must be some explanation (like the ones the other girls mention)
