Signing the Marriage Lisc/Marriage Cert

if you got married at the RH when did you sign the marriage license/marriage certificate? my officiant sent us the first draft of our ceremony (which we both ) but we noticed that after the vows and ring exchange we sign the marriage certificate....is that usually how its done? for some reason i pictured doing that after the ceremony.....

You dont sign it the officiant does and he shouldnt do that DURING the ceremony, should be after

ETA: You get the marriage certif in the mail a few weeks after the wedding

ive always seen the bride and groom signing it in the church AFTER the ceremony but before they run out and people toss stuff on them

and thats what we're doing to.

i dont know it says we have to sign something

it says we do the vows, ring exchange, then the register and certificates are signed, we light the unity candle, then the declaration of marriage by the officiant, the kiss, then we are introduced as husband and wife

I went to a wedding in a church where that was done, but that was the only wedding I've ever been to where it happened like that.

We signed it in the clerk's office when we applied for it. We never saw it again, and got a certificate a week later.

I went to a wedding where it was signed during the ceremony..and I've been to ones where it's signed afterwards/before or as in our case..at the rehearsal.

Ask you officiant why he's having you sign during..maybe you can change it if you don't like that.

Yeah, YOU only sign it when you get it, but your witnesses (usually BM and MOH) sign it and officiant signs it. Our BM and MOH signed at our rehearsal, and the the Officiant takes it from there!

I went to a wedding last month at CHCC and the same thing happened. The bride and groom signed during the ceremony. I actually signed mine the day of our rehearsal.

it doesnt really make a difference to me - i just never saw a ceremony outside of the roman catholic church before so i didnt know if it was common practice to sign it during a non religious ceremony - i guess signing it during the ceremony makes it feel more official than just signing it beforehand i dont know - i guess ill ask my officiant about it - i dont mind doing it during the ceremony but i dont want it to make the ceremony weird or boring

our ceremony was at church so it may be diferent, but my sisters was at the RH and both her and her husband and witnesses signed shortly before the ceremony and then after performing the cereomny the officiant signed and mailed it out
