Silverfox Photography Help!!

Silverfox Photography Help!!

I just met with Silverfox last night and loved them. I am completely torn about what to do about a package because I left there spending a lot more than I budgeted. My contract (not signed yet) is for a main photographer-Frank, photojournalist-Ted, 'on the side' video, my album w/ 50 pics and 3 parent albums. Now I am going to attempt to cut about 1500 off of the price. I have already decided to forget about the parent albums. Now I'm torn between getting the photojournalist photographer or my album. I know that at any time I can get an album made up. I also know that I will be getting all of the proofs and digital files.

If anyone has used either of the photographers mentioned, or Silverfox, I can really use your advice!

Thanks,
Rachel

don't cut the photojournalist!!!! My sister used them, she had john, and Franco was the photojournalist....and those shots were some of her favorites...
I thought that you didn't have to pic the album package right away...why don't you leave that until the after the wedding? is there anyway to put it on credit card?
seriously, I wouldn't cut the photojournalist, if anything cut the videographer and have someone else do that....

We used Silverfox. Frank is the BEST!!! I don't know Ted but I am sure he is fine.

We got the smallest album package and figured if we wanted more we would deal with it later. Don't cut out the photojournalist. Definetly worth it.

I'm using Silverfox, too...We went with the bare-bones package... but I'm happy to say that I made an album through Shutterfly with e-photos, and it came out gorgeous! So probably for a grand total of $250,I will do my own album and 2 for our parents :) check it out...

ack, i wish i would have thought to ask them about paying in cash to take off the tax! yuck... dumb of me not to ask...

anyone use Howard?

Re: Silverfox Photography Help!!

I was just told that Frank is not available for my date. So now I am using the Photojournalist as the main photographer. I think that will be good b/c I will have the best of both worlds. If anyone has used Ted please tell me how he was, and if possible show us some pics!!

I suggest booking your photographers and holding off on albums. Just have them write the price on your package. For example, I was unsure about parent album so I negotiated $800 for 3 of the middle albums with the least about of pics (normally $300 each). I had them write on my contract that's what I'll pay if I add it on. Now that I have my proofs on the disc, I'm think I have do something myself. I'm glad I have the option. Actually, I wish I didn't prepay my own album so I'd have the same option for mine as well.

Re: Silverfox Photography Help!!

I have heard of brides getting very busy after a wedding and never getting to their album. That being said, one of my BM did her own and it's cute. The only thing I see that the photographer does that you can't with your digital files (unless you know how) is to touch them up, correct the exposures and maybe soften some of the little smile lines, etc.

FH and I went over our e-pics last night and the photographer showed us how he can edit the pics. He removed neck wrinkles I had due to a certain pose on an otherwise great shot, he softened the bags I had under my eyes due to my lack of sleep recently and will fill in FH hair where a scar is...he was offered to remove a scar FH has from chicken pox but we all decided that it was characteristic and to leave it. (he even softened FHs slight double chin on a pic!!!)

That's where most of the album money goes- touch ups. My MOH usd Silverfox and there are a few pics that have such great detail that the smile lines she has by her eyes are pronounced- and we are still young-they'll have to be taken out in post-production.

Did you look at Duet? They have great quality pics and great package prices- the best album 'extra' costs too ($25 or so per extra page- no per image!) Good luck - this was my hardest decision!! (why do I always ramble on the pic questions! )

Thanks for all the great advice guys. I really like the photographer I picked. I think I'm going to hold off on the albums for now. And I checked out Shutterfly and their custom made albums look nice. I might got with that! Thanks for the tip on writing the price in the contract in case I decide to buy an album.

Yea a main photographer is $1400 and the photojournalist is $1100. Their work is great but adding the albums were little too much. I met with the a couple weeks ago. I was actually considering not taken the photojournalist. I don't know I'm so confused in choosing a photographer.

Get all album prices in writting then- extra images if added, extra pages, etc...not just the album cost. That's a great idea whoever came up with it! I don't remember if I mentioned it before- if you do your own album get acid free paper, etc and make sure the pics have a good coating on them to resist fading (don't know if shutterfly can do that?)

Re: Silverfox Photography Help!!

Thank you guys so much for all your input. I think we've have decided what we're doing. My fiancee is INSISTING that we get the 50 picture $900 photo album. He really wants it so I guess I just have to deal with it, lol. I think it's a complete waste of money, but it's his wedding too, lol. We are going to make up our parent albums on Shutterfly (thanks for that suggestion!). After Silverfox called and said Frank wasn't available, I am using Ted as my main photographer and cutting out the pj. I guess this will be the best of both worlds now. Glad to hear that Ted took some of the best pics for you!! Keep the idea coming!!! I still think I may check into Duet, lol. Although I really did love Ted's work. Plus Duet told me they only have 1 team available for my date.

On another note does anyone know if Duet does anything regarding tax when paying in cash???
