I looked at the Old Field Club in Setauket and absolutely *LOVED* it. It is cozy and has a warm feel to it. It has beautiful views, and is not too big. However, from everyone I've spoken to, it doesn't seem like you can fit any more than 150 people there. They say it can accomodate up to 180, but I can't see how; the main room is not that big. I like that a lot, but am worried about my guest list. Are there any other places that you lovely people have found that are similar? One wedding at a time is an absolute priority, and nothing too big would be great, too. I've looked at other places (Lombardis in Port Jeff, Thatched Cottage in Centerport, Woodlands in Woodbury, Bedel Vineyard in Southold) and none have matched exactly what I'm looking for. Any suggestions you have would be totally appreciated! Thank you.

have you looked at giorgio's at all? main room is huge and it's one wedding at a time with beautiful outdoor space. not a barn or rustic feel but absolutely gorgeous.

Yes, Giorgios would be similar, minus the lake.
What about Three Village Inn, Stonybrook?
Are you inviting 180? If so, you will probably have 150 actually there.
Maybe you can cut the guest list a little, if you really love the venue.

Three Village Inn, or if you don't mind a little further West... The Riviera in Massapequa.

Definitely Riviera in Massapequa. I LOVED the OFC too, but all of my family is in western nassau and we didn't want to have to travel that far. The Riviera is definitely the most like OFC that I have seen! And they were wonderful for my wedding! Pics in my album :)

What about the Somerley at Fox Hollow. I absolutely loved the look of Old Field Club, but it was way too far for my guests to travel. Somerley had a very similar look and was located in Nassau County.

Re: Similar to the Old Field Club?
Raphael Vineyard has high ceilings like the Old Field Club I think. It is one event a day. No water or lake in the back. It's a full vineyard with great vineyard view from balcony. Has areas outside as well, for ceremony if you want. A 7 hour reception.
It has a huge cocktail/dance room with very very high ceilings, very woody. If you don't like wood dont go there. It's not a typical reception hall. The dining room is smaller. I dont remember the capacity though maybe between 165-180 at a tight squeeze but I think it will fit there was so much space when I saw tables set up. The chairs dont knock each others backs or anything like that. Call them up I'm really not sure as that wasn't a concern of mine. 180 seems like it might be its max capacity or maybe less. I can't believe I dont remember what they said for max capacity. Maybe 165?
For a 'large' party they will do a 'european' style wedding where you have: 1 1/2 hour cocktail hour 2 hour sit down dinner in another room 3 1/2 hour dancing/party and desserts back in the cocktail room which I think is big with cocktail tables all around to sit in and watch if you dont want to dance. Theres also outside with 2nd story balcony and a patio underneath.
I never ever thought I'd go for a woody vineyard kind of place but I absolutely love it there. A very comfortable vibe and we liked we had the entire day there. Very chilled. I stress out too much as it is.

Re: Similar to the Old Field Club?
My SIL got married at Old Field and it was simply gorgeous. I think she had 110-120 people and honestly there was plenty of room, the room is more spacious than you think. The Mildrege Cottage is similar, but I wouldn't rule out Old Field for that reason.

Re: Similar to the Old Field Club?
We invited 140 for Old Field Club and ended up with 96, the room size was perfect for us. I think you can get away with having 150 comfortably. We wanted the area open in between the tables so we can do the cake cutting, first dance, bouquet toss so everyone could see even if they were sitting. If you have more than 100 then they put tables in that middle area and everything had to be done on the dance..

Thanks for all the information! I will definitely look into Georgios, Fox Hollow, and Riveria. I'm actually headed to the Milleridge Cottage tomorrow, so there's one off the list! :)
