since i changed my name this week [UPDATE!]

i quit my job early. i was going to work through today and cash my check [there was no delayed pay cycle] and be done. but they yelled at me for taking the morning off [to get my name changed 2.5 months after the wedding] and since i had a new job lined up already, i just quit on the spot.

so now i'm chicken and don't want to go get my check for last week and monday...but i want my check. i can just see them NOT paying me though. GRRR.

i should just suck it up and go in being a snot and just get my check...but i hate confrontation and i could see it being one.

UPDATE:
So I went over at 1 and asked for my check which she'd neglected to write [I usually have my check handed to me at noon] because she 'didn't think I'd come by today.' So I told her I'd done that project for her and said I'd come back in an hour [she had to call the accountant to find out what to pay me]. I got my check..I'm on my way now to cash it [not taking the chance of depositing it ] and buy some new clothes for my new job.

Oh I hate confrontation too! I'm such a baby when it comes to crap like that? Maybe they can mail you the last check? grrrrrr.

i can just see them trying to not pay me or i'd let them mail it.

oh well...i'll get my butt in gear and just go over...and if they try to not pay me, i'll remind them DH is a lawyer.

don't worry i would be the same way - i was fired from my first job ( i was like 15) and i made FH come in with me and give everyone nasty looks!

maybe you should bring some back up?!

OK...well here's what I've decided...they REALLY needed me to correct the poor grammar on the company website [they are Chinese and their English is abominable]...so I just corrected it and I'm printing it out. I will go in and request my check and in exchange, I'll give them the corrected statements they NEED. But, if I don't get my check...they'll have to sucker someone else into doing it!

That doesn't hurt!! Good luck, I'm sure they will mail it.

If I were you, I would go and get my money. After all, you were going to leave anyway. I would walk in there with my head high (although I would be nervous). If they don't pay you, you can go to the NY Labor Board. I had to do it one time when a job would not pay me and I did get paid after they stepped in.

Totally agree...

...yes maybe they can mail you the check but beware if they're a**holes they may be like sorry I don't wanna waste the $0.39 come pick up your check. I had this cranky 80 year old walking zombie at my last job say that to me. But when I made her put my boss on the phone he said no problem I'll send it to you.

I would just go and get it. Either they won't even care what you do or you will get the last laugh in the situation. They can't really say much to you and they have to give you your check.

You can probably call human resources and have them send your check out.

I hate confrontation too, Cheryl, but don't let them get the better of you. Go in a demand to get paid for the work that you did! If I wasn't sick, I'd go with you!
