Since we are talking about BMs

Since we are talking about BMs

Ok girls. So I just got back from BM dress shopping with my Mom, my sister (MOH) and my best friend of almost 20 years (BM). So I told them I had picked approx 6 or 7 bari jay styles to try on (pics of options in my albums). So we get there and I said I would like you to try on my fav first (The black and white one). So my sister, MOH, tried it on first and looked just stunning in it, but she didn't like it. So she continued to try on the other styles that we had pulled, fine, no problem. So my bf also bm tried on the black and white one and really liked it. It also looked lovely on her. So I thought ok this is THE ONE. So my sister, reviews with me how much she really doesn't like it. I told her it really was my favorite one and since it looks great on all 3 of my bms I would really like to go with that one. She tells me she really doesn't like it but will wear whatever I want.

Ok so that bugged me, but I let it slide since at least she said she would cooperate. So I walk away to look at some spanx and corsettes and stuff and when I come back she is browsing through the Bari Jay items and pulling other gowns that she likes. She decides to try on another Dress that was NEVER even an option of one that I liked!!!!!! I MEAN IS THAT BALLSY OR WHAT?!?!?! I was so angry. So she comes out in it and she looks amazing and she says I want this one. Ok now it is a bari jay and it would go with the black and white one, it is very similar just strapless. So now I don't know what to do. I really want the girls to wear all the same dress, but the other two girls are VERY busty and can't go with the strapless style. Also I just think it was SO SELFISH and AUDACIOUS of her to even get something else off the rack when I went to all the trouble of pulling so many different styles for them.

In addition, BAYSHORE BRIDAL SUITE is not the best place in my opinion. They were a bit pushy and trying to get me to order today when my third BM wasn't even with us. Basically after they found out I was unable to order today they were not helpful at all.

So what do you girls think I should do? Let her have the strapless?? I am so hurt by all this, I mean she is my sister. When I was in her wedding she told me what I was wearing and that was that. I never questioned it or asked to even try anything else on. I really wanna make her wear the one I want just out of spite. Or should I give her what she wants so I don't need to worry about it?!?! PLEASE HELP! I AM SO UPSET RIGHT NOW!!!

Since she is the MOH you could get away with her having a different dress and the other BMs having the one you originally chose.

don'te get me wrong, I totally agree with you that what she did was a little rude but I would consider her looking a little different since she is the MOH.

With my girls, I'm having the MOH either in a diff dress completely or in the same dress just a different shade of the color I choose...just so you can see she's the MOH -- then again it's totally your decision so do what you feel in your heart

Hmmm...on the one hand I agree that it is your wedding and you should pick...on the other hand I agree with your MOH that she should feel comfortable in the dress she has to wear...

Truthfully, I let my girls pick the dresses they liked. We went to a few stores and I said ok go pick out some dresses. I picked the color and I waited for them to come to a decision on what they all felt comfy in. Personally, I feel like its a lot of money for them to spend on a dress that they hate and I also hated being in Bridal Parties in which i felt uncomfy in the dress all day long...

Sorry that I can't agree more with you...I just don't thikn her lookign at other drresses is that wrong...

Well it sounds like she was a bit rude about it but was it intentional? It sounds like she found a similar dress and if you don't mind your MOH having a different dress than the other BMs then it would work.

I went today to try on dresses too. But just with one BM - which black and white one? We fell in love with a b and w, but it was strapless. And yes, that is really rude of your sis. My friend's sis did something similar when she got married and it didn't bother her, but she's super laid back. It won't have totally annoyed me.

Since sheis the MOH you could get away wih it & to make things easy & not frustrating maybe you should let it be. HOWEVER, since she is your sister you could eb frank withher & let her know what you were like during this process at her wedding. That sometimes its not alway sabout her. lol You have to dceide what is more important to you. I think I would tell her how i feel & what she made you do at her wedding & then go from tehre. But do it after your not so pissed off.

What means more .... Making your sister happy who is also the MOH and let her stand out with a dress she likes OR Having all of your BMs look the same?

These situations are tricky. I knew something like this would happen so I just picked the dress I wanted.

Sorry she is upsetting you

Technically she could go strapless. But the point is she deliberately went against your wishes and was really pushy! It's your wedding and what you say goes. She will get over that.
When you've given it some time and cooled off maybe try talking to her and rationalize that this is your vision and you didn't fight her with hers..

Thanks everyone! I looked online at the dresses side by side and in my color and they really compliment each other they are actually shown in almost every bridal magazine as an ad, shown together. So if it will make her happy and I would like her to stand out a lil, then I think it will be ok. It was just upsetting at the time. Thanks for all the support. I really appreciate the different points of view. Sometimes it is hard to look at things objectively and you girls def help!! THANKS!
