Since we are talking about name changes....

Since we are talking about name changes....

This might be a stupid question, but ....

I am starting a new job in june and getting married in November. In this job I will be creating a lot of contacts with journalists and will get business cards. Wouldnt it just make sense to start using my married name in my e-mail and on my business card right at the beginning. Or is the illegal or something?

Eh...I don't know much of the legality of it...but if I were you I'd use my maiden name until I'm married. Wouldn't it make it that much more special if you came back after your wedding and was now Mrs. So&So?!

When you order your business cards, maybe don't order as many so when you change your name not as many will be wasted.

I would wait to use your married name until Nov- it may create confusion in the meantime to use a name that's not on all your documents, id, etc.

I was thinking the same thing, I am getting married in June and changing jobs next week.
I am not sure what I am going to do!

I just started a new job 4/1/04 and am getting married in August. I am using my maiden name. You can't sign contracts with your married name unless you have already changed yoru name. If you do so, the contract is null and void. (Guess whose a lawyer).

It won't be a big deal. In a few months, people will just start using your new name. Won't be a tough habit for them to break.
