Singers during dinner. Opinions Please!!

We just booked FM Entertainment and were contemplating hiring a Frank Sinatra style singer during the dinner hour. I would like to know everyones opinions and the overall reaction of the guests, if you've had one.

I think its a nice touch, as long as he's not 'in your face' & is singing in the background & its not overbearing. Very nice

I can tell you how it goes in 18 days!

I'm having one and it was a must have. He sings and isn't in your face. Then you can get up and dance a little.... I def. suggest it although it is pricey!

We looked into this, and thought it would be better for the cocktail hour than the dinner hour. I think peple want to focus on their dinner during the reception, rather than focusing on the 'act.'

I also just picture Frank Sinatra in a CH atmosphere than a dinner one....

I agree as well. Not of fan of singers during the dinner hour..

i agree that maybe it would be better during the coctail hour... thats when people are minging and its just a little more casual.... i think its just a better atmosphere than during dinner

Thanks girls!! This was more of my FH idea than mine. Since I've been getting everything I wanted, I figured I'd leave this one up to him. Honestly, I'm not a big fan on the rat pack and that music style so for me I can do without. But keep the suggestions coming. I agree with you ladies that it would be better during the CH rather than dinner.

I think if you can afford it sounds really nice! They always play this type of music during dinner anyway so live would be really cool.

I actually (respectfully!) disagree with the other posters.

I'm definitely a fan of cocktail hour singers but during dinner, it's also nice to have someone singing a few tunes. What you have to remember is that they come out 15 mins. before dinner is over. At this point, people are finishing up or relaxing after that big meal.

For me and my theme, it's perfect... but I think for anyone it's a nice touch!

ps. and if your FH is really into it (as mine was) it's nice to give him SOMETHING.

I think that the singer adds a great touch to the reception or the CH. Very nice, and if you and your FH want it, then I say go for it.

Not a fan of the idea. Personally, I like the theme of a wedding to be the wedding, and a singer may take away from that.......JMHO

I dont really like the idea--the idea of an impersonator at a wedding kind of makes me think of it as Vegas-y and the Sinatra singers seem like impersonators to me--I think its very different than having a live band. I just feel like it makes sense to either go with a DJ all the way or a band all the way. Thats just my opinion though.

We had a piano player/ jazz singer during dinner and everyone RAVED!!!

It was great touch and added class to the usual DJ music

If the signer doesn't come recommended by the DJ company - does anybody have the # of those Sinatra singers who freelance & will come for an hour or so?
