are you girls having a singles table..? i know it sounds bad, but do singles want to sit together, or be at a table with married people.
background - everyone married is basically older than my friends by 10-20 years. and my friends are not looking for marriage yet...
any thoughts?

Re: singles table
i am seating my guests with people they know, whether single or not. no special 'singles' table. i would rather sit with people i know at a wedding, even if single, then be mixed in with strangers.
just my opinion.

Re: singles table
I am sitting all my guests with people they know. It has been very awkward as a single lady to be invited and seated at a 'singles table' and I would not want to put my singles through that!

I'm glad someone agreed with me, I was a little nervous responding and afraid to come off as judgmental with everyone that went down on these boards last week and the in-fighting!

I would put them with people they know. Just because they are single doesnt mean they need to be hearded together..

I am planning to do the same...It is so uncomfortable to be with the other single strangers!

me too .. everyone will know at least two people at the table... but mostly, we are having co-worker tables and family tables and then friends that know each other tables

Agreed.
And don't try to play matchmaker with the seating arrangements either. I went to a wedding once when I was single and my friends college table overflowed so she sat me and another friend with her husbands friends because they were single and she thought we would hit it off. WORST NIGHT EVER!!! He had a thick Boston accent and the drunker he got the less I understood a word he said. It was so awkward.

I am doing the same thing! I wouldn't want to be at a table of strangers. As it is, some of my guests will have that no matter what so I'm pairing them with friendly people.

ITA. I have friends who almost get offended to be labeled at the 'singles' table. They'd rather sit with the friends they know, whether single, dating, married, etc.

Re: singles table
I was put at a singles table once at a wedding. I don't know if it was because the couple was trying to set me up or what! I remember meeting a nice guy who was also in law school and even giving him my number at the end of the night and never hearing from him again. (As you can imagine, this was a LOOOOONG time ago lol)
It was uncomfortable and awkward, and I ended up just hanging out with the couples I did know at the wedding. I kept getting booted out of other peoples' chairs.
I agree with everyone else... try to make people comfortable if you can.

I'd have them eat with the vendors, if you're feeding them.

Re: singles table
No, the singles are definitely sitting with people they know, not with singles. Just because two people are single doesn't mean that they'll instantly hit it off!
