Sites on the water?
HELP!? We are looking for sites on the water. (We want to do a 4th of July wedding, so somewhere we might see fireworks would be cool!) We loved Lands End in Sayville, but is way too pricy for us. We did not like Danfords and were so so about Port Jeff Country Club. We will be looking at the Cresant Beach Club ( Bayville). Any feedback on it? Any other suggestions? Thanks!
Hi, Try Dante in Westbury. Ask for Mike(owner). He hooked us up with a nice package and we shopped around. I would say avoid zeller. Ive heard from on this board and seen 1st hand by going there what a joke they are. We couldnt even see any styles to try out. It was all to be picked from a book. Mike took the time to let us play dress up for about 1 hr before deciding what we wante. We found them online at www.dantetux.cjb.net Good luck., Lisa
My opinion would be to invite him, and if you can though not as important, his wife. In the end, they might not show. We invited our priest and he politely declined.

Hi. Try Timber PointCC in Great River or The R iviera in Massapequa. The Cresent in Bayville is beautiful but they were very rude on the phone and I found them extremely expensive. Timber Point is on the Connetquot River and Great South Bay. I am having my reception there In October. They have a websit www.lessings.com. Give them a try.
Good luck, Mark

Definately try John Anthony's on the Water in Babylon...it should still be less expensive than Crescent Beach Club or Lands End. John Anthony's also owns Harbor Club in Huntington which is also on the water (but more like a marina-feel).
Crescent Beach Club looks and sounds amazing, but they were definately way too expensive for us.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

i just had my wedding at the Crescent 2 weeks ago, look no further!!!!! It was wonderful! Absolutely spectacular I have never been happier in my whole life!!!!!!! It was flawless, my bridal attendant got an oil stain out of my dress that was the size of my hand! You are like royalty there!!!! E-mail me back I will tell you anything you want to know!! I have pics too how they decorate! Jessica, a really happy bride! P.S> Bayvile does have fireworks on the 4th of July, we go there every 4th!
Giorgios is really nice, East Wind is nice, The Vineyard is nice all the normal catering facilities. If you are looking for something really different a vineyard wedding is great. Wollfer Vineyards in Sagaponack is unbelievable in the fall, you think your in the Italian Countryside. Good Luck!
Thanks for all your suggestions. We interviewd a priest and ajudge and loved both, so now we need to make a choice!

The Vanderbilt Mansion at Dowling College is on the water (Connetquot river across from the arboretum). It is not your typical wedding factory. There is a place for an outside ceremony as well. It is a courtyard with a fountain. You can see some of the sites there on the virtual tour @ www.dowling.edu. The caterer there is Philip Stone (5156)623-6622. Their site is www.stonecaterers.com. Good luck!

I just went to a wedding at The Old Field Club in East Setauket. They had the ceremony overlooking the water and it was beautiful.
Our BM lives in Seattle, WA. He went to a tux shop out there, called us with the measurements, we gave the measurements to Flowerama & they ordered one for him. He arrived in town 2 days before the wedding. He was fitted, minor alterations were done in a day and looked quite dashing in time for Saturday! :)
Our cost per tux - inc. shoes, cufflinks, sales tax etc. - was $145 each. Yes, you CAN get it cheaper...But Paul really liked the staff (clearly knowledgable!) & the quality of the material....and since I spent over $1200 on my attire for the day, I figured spending another $50 to make him feel good was certainly worth it!

We are having ours at The Snapper Inn, in Oakdale. It's a restaurant on the water with a outside lawn bar and they have a big white tent for weddings and parties. I'm not sure how many it holds but they have a minimum of 80. We got lucky and are allowed a minimum of 50. It's really nice and very inexpensive. They have a bunch of different packages to choose from. You can go from $35 - $80 a plate. The cake, champagne, bar, linens and centerpieces are included. The tent is right in front of the water.
Oh God Kate. Where is your dress?? I would be a nervous wreck. Are you OK??
Concetta's poem idea is GREAT!!! After you read it over the microphone, perhaps you can frame a copy of it so that it becomes a keepsake for Dad.

Jessica - I'm interested to hear more about the Crescent. How was the food / how much per person?
I think its wonderful that your FMIL is hosting this for you. Mine made no such offer and since my dad had already done so much for us, we had to pay for our own rehearsal dinner. Cost us close to $700! Be sure to give her a big fat kiss!
:o)

I actually work in a restaurant part time(helped pay for the wecding) and my managers attended the wedding which was two weeks ago and they have not stopped talking about the food! It is excellent. That is mainly why we chose it, we also live in the area but the food and room is most impoortant to me. That is what everyone remebers!!! the portions are enormous and the cocktail hour is unbelievable. I really did not think I could be as happy as I am with the place!! And I have been to my share of weddings! The prices go from $55-$140. If youwant a Saturday night in June you'll pay higher, but September October are lower, so it really varies, the view is awesome too! Check it out, e-mail me if you have any more questions I have plenty of pictures if you'd like to see! Good luck!
I went to go see Jack & Rose this weekend based on all the positive discussions I read on this website. Therefore, I felt I needed to express my opinion of how this experience went for me.
My fiancee and I met with Jack. They have a nice store front which indicated to me that this was going to be retail prices.

Just went a a wedding at The Marina Del Ray--good food, the place was nice too. The actual room you have your wedding in and the grounds around the place are very pretty. I wasn't crazy about the entrance and lobby but the good outweigh the bad. Perfect for an outside affair--you see the bridge lit up at night--gorgeous!

REALLY? I THINK THE LOBBY IS NICE FOR THE FACT THAT THERES NO WALLS ITS ALL WINDOWS.
We need to remember that everyone is entitled to their opinions, and they should be respected. The personal attacks ARE IMMATURE and not necessary. Kate, I thank you for your advice and support and hopefully there are more brides like you and me on this board that also believe that this board should reflect all opinions and we should respect them. Personally, I would appreciate it if more brides would express their experiences good and BAD with vendors and give us a heads up. That way we are all informed when we make a decision.

I'm not one for mirrors and the piano/waterfall thing but many people like it. I prefer a more victorian/country atmosphere. But like I said the wedding was nice and food good :)
Let me describe what happened. After arriving ten minutes early to our one o'clock appt., Marisol & I waited 25-30 minutes for the florist to meet with us. Keep in mind that it was one of the most beautiful days this year. After being brought to the office, we were left alone for another 10-15 minutes to look at pictures of bridal bouquets. When he returned, the sales pitch began. He discussed how fresh his flowers were & how they're fed-ex'd from all over the world. This statement was believed, was never questioned, & later proven. This sales pitch went on for a good half-hour. That's already over an hour wasted. After discussing different flowers with Marisol, he retrieved some of the loveliest flowers that I've ever seen. Unfortunately unlike the local florist we visited the day prior, he never made any arrangements for us. The intermittent ringing of his phone became a distraction at times as well. His sales pitch led me to believe he was very pricey, but Marisol believed that he wasn't based on the recommendations posted to the Long Island Weddings web site. So we stayed a little longer.

Anyone ever been to a wedding at the Huntington Townhouse? How was it?
Included in my package - and I think this is true for all of their packages - is a 2 hour album planning session. The ball is in my court now and I need to wrap up my thoughts and schedule my session.
