Skipping . on BC...

Skipping . on BC...

I need to switch my . so I don't have it on the HM. Should I skip the inactive week of pills now, 3 mos. in advance, in case it causes side effects? Has anyone ever had any probs. doing this? Do I need to check with my dr. first?

I would check with your doctor first but you dont need to do anything in advance. Just have the next pack ready and when its time to take the fake ones, just move on to the next pack. I did that last time I went to FL and there were no side effects at the time but the following month AF was a little late (2 days).

I've skipped several times the many years I was on the pill...only had a problem when I tried to skip when Iw as having surgery...because my body went through a trauma, it didn't work well.

I skipped for the wedding & HM...I had to start 2 months in advance. If I skipped for the wedding, I would have been PMSing for the HM...I didn't want that....so by starting 2 months in advance, the schedule shifted to me getting it when we got back.

I never had side effects...you still get your PMS the week before though

I have friends that did that. The only thing i would suggest is to try to figure it out so that you aren't feeling bloated around the wedding or HM so if you make it come so that you have it say the week before the wedding, you shouldn't have that problem

switch to seasonal then only have to worry about i once every 3 months

but otherwise - skipping matters on your pill -some are better then others -probably best to ask you doctor based on your pill -

pills withthe same level are the easiest to skip with

ortho tri - my doctor said not to skip - but i heard if you do skip use two packs at the same time and double up on the colors

I'm on ortho tri--I think it is too late to switch to seasonal--I don't want to have to worry about it not being effective on the HM. What's the benefit of doubling up on colors? What happens if you go straight to the new pack after skipping the week of inactive?

I am on ortho cyclen and I just skipped the placebo and started the new pack...I am having some breakthrough bleeding. My doctor said that it is normal...I will wait to see what happens!

I am on the same ones and had the same problem 4 months in a row so I am stopping and changing to Seasonale.

With breakthrough bleeding? I actually have that often too. Was it from skipping the inactive pills?

my doctor told me to be very careful skipping on ortho - it has to do with the different levels of hormones given each week - ortho really is meant to have your period each month - thats why break through bleeding happens -

Seasonal - i started on seasonal - once you start a pack you do not get your period til 3 months from that date -you could switch now and be fine - you probably can call your doctor and ask for a prescription to be called in because if you have seen you're doctor within the year

I have a friend, who on the advice of her doctor, skips even on seasonal. She has severe endometrosis and her periods are crippling.

i skip on seasonal - it is a level pill - it is so much easier to be active especially in the summer

Yes, it was from skipping the pills. When I took them as prescribed, I didn't have that problem. And it's as SnowPrincess says, there are differentl levels of hormones and I start getting cramps before I even get to the placebos. I am on OrthoTricycleneLo and am switching.

Orthocyclen is a level pill also...I tried skipping placebos on orthtricyclen and it was horrible..not only did I bleed, I had massive cramps. I switched to orthocyclen which is a level hormone throughout the month...like seasonale but not the same dosage of hormone. I am going to wait it out this month and see what happens...I could always stop and seasonale is definently an option!

Be careful with this. I've been on Ortho Cyclon for years and a few times I've tried to manipulate it but I always get side effects for the next cycle. I would get more moody than usual, , cramps, headache, nasau and my skin would break out. Basically I would get one bad cycle.

ETA: I can't believe how many of you are taking Seasonal! Aren't you worried that you might get prego and not know it?
