Sleeping Question

Sleeping Question

Hi! You may remember me...I'm the Mommy who was saying several months ago that my child never napped and it was driving me crazy. Well...we are now in a phase where Ryan is sleeping 11 - 12 hours a night and 4 hours during the day (2 naps at around 2 hours EACH!!)

What is going on around here?!?!?! I mean, the kid plays himself hard when he is awake. He is always moving and banging and crawling and standing that I can see where he might exhaust himself...but does this seem extreme to anyone??? I'm not used to having a good sleeper so I'm just curious. I'm not complaining mind you, but wondering if other babies started sleeping longer as they got older?

Emma used to never sleep. But for about the past 4 months shes been sleeping 12 hours at night and taking 1 3 hour nap. Its wonderful... its not just Ryan. But thank your lucky stars you can get some sleep now

Re: Sleeping Question

now that he is more active he will rest more. Also it could be a growing process. Just welcome it!!!

Re: Sleeping Question

I dont think it sounds excessive given that he's probably exerting even more energy than you realize with all his stanidng and cruising. Luke sleeps for 11 hours usually and while he's down to 1 nap, it can be 2 hours long sometimes.

It could be a growth spurt - I agree with everyone - Enjoy!!

Re: Sleeping Question

Weve been in the same boat... John and I are just waiting for someone to say 'HAH, TRICKED YA!'

Because JA has been ASKING to be put to bed at night! and used to sleep til 7am, now he's in there even till 7:30 or 8 and he's good about hanging out in his crib for a few minutes if im in the shower or prepping something where I dont want to get him just yet. and his naps have always been good. He's been down to one nap for several months now, but even that one nap can be 2 hours, sometimes a little more!

So I guess its common for their sleep habits to change as they get more active and need more rest! YAYYY, Lee, theres HOPE for us!

Re: Sleeping Question

Well, I guess we just enjoy the ride, huh??? Remind me of this when I start complaining about him only napping for a half hour again!!

What am I going to DO with all this spare time during the day?!?!?!

Re: Sleeping Question

Man, what I wouldn't give for a 2 hour nap!! Sean had one...once. I checked on him 4503094 times b/c he NEVER sleeps that long.

He's still on the 3 short nap schedule, but, my baby has slept 11-12 hours every night since 7 weeks so I can't complain!!
