Sleeping with FH is making me...

Sleeping with FH is making me...

Ok, so as you all know, fh moved in on July 1st right after we got engaged. While we were dating sleeping in the same bed was fine b/c we only did it on the weekends (and we weren't really sleeping anyway). Now that this is the real world, I get very little sleep. He hogs the bed in the worst way and I always feel like I'm about to hit the floor. My sleep is broken every night by having to ask him to move over. I'm going back to work next week and now I always wake up exausted. argh... Living together is amazing in every other way. Do you have this problem, too?

TOTALLY had this problem! you are not alone. my DH tends to sleep in a weird diaganol position, that takes up the entire freaking bed. i would get a small part of the bed to try and sleep. not to mention he SNORES like you wouldn't believe.

it takes some time--cause they are used to their own sleeping habits....but after awhile they eventually compromise and automatically adjust to let you sleep. i still sometimes have to push my DH and tell him to 'turn over' so he's not snoring right in my ear. but overall--after a little while he finally stays on his side of the bed!

You will get used to it. Have you ever lived with anyone one before?? If you haven't it will probably take a little while. If you've always had your own space it can be quite awkward at first. But you both will find you niche. And if not you can always get a king sized bed.

Try putting a pillow between the two of you.

Found that it makes a barrier that FH doesn't cross over in his sleep, and keeps me from having to hug the edge of the bed.

Snoring, that's another problem. He's got sleep apnea and refuses to get the breathing apparatus. The apparatus is noisy too, think I'd rather deal with the snoring. At least it gives me an excuse to punch him in the middle of the night.

I guess I'm lucky. Me and FH are used to sleeping on opposite sides of the bed so we have our own spaces. My problem is his snoring! Thats when I gotta give him a couple good pushes and he'll stop long enough to get me to sleep

I've been living with FH for over 1.5yrs and let me tell you..i still dont sleep straight through the night! He constantly moves, he talks in his sleep, and he takes the covers. I'm a little more used to it by now, but when he goes upstate on the weekends to work, I feel like i'm in heaven b/c I can sleep a solid 9 hrs without even waking up lol

yup..me and fh each blame eachother for hogging the bed.. there have been a few nights where i'll fall asleep on the couch and FH doesn't wake me up and just goes to sleep upstairs and he admits that sometimes he really likes having the bed to himself..lmao

Re: Sleeping with FH is making me...

I've been living w/FH for just about a year now and I think he felt this way about me. Lol. I steal blankets and worst of all, I often hit him in my sleep. One night I leaned over and pinched his ear as hard as I could No recollection, of course.
I think he's used to me now. Don't worry I'm sure you guys will adjust. THere's always a bigger bed. We have a queen but we laugh when we go away and sleep on a king. We can go the whole night w/o touching each other. LOL

so does mine, and he sweats too! but he refuses to sleep with only a sheet or lighter blanket. luckily, he doesn't roam all over the bed at night. if anything, its me ....i sleep diagonally.

I cannot even sleep at FH's house on the weekends!!!! He has a full size bed and its way too small for me, him, and his damn cat!

The first thing we're buying when we move in together is a king size bed... How I love those big beds!!!!

Girl, I have been dealing with this for years! I wake up and I have blanket only covering my foot while he wrapped in it. We have four pillows, he gets 3 of them. And even with his three pillows I wake up to his head on my ONE PILLOW. Then the snoring, I smack him up in his sleep sometimes to get him to stop snoring. He wakes up like, 'Why are you hitting me' You get used to it though, I promise

Re: Sleeping with FH is making me...

oh u are SO not alone! i think at some point, ALMOST everyone goes through this...mine wasnt the space issue, it really was just the presence of having another person in bed! The first two weeks of being married DH & I would both wake up everyday by like 7am for NO reason!(and neither of us are morning people!) finally someone was like 'hello??!! it's because u're not used to someone else there with you!' it really is just the 'presence of someone else' being there! wierd, but it was totally true. Give it time - u'll get used to it & love it!
