He just sauntered over to my desk and handed me a sealed envelope. 'Don't worry, it won't blow up in your face,' he snots at me. Seriously, shut up already. I open it up and it's a card. This card:
Not creepy enough for you? This is the poem printed inside the card:
Nicholas was...
...older than sin, and his beard could grow no whiter. He wanted to die.
The dwarfish natives of the Arctic caverns did not speak his language, but conversed in their own, twittering tongue, conducted incomprehensible rituals, when they were not actually working in the factories.
Once every year they forced him, sobbing and protesting, into Endless Night. During the journey he would stand near every child in the world, leave one of the dwarves' invisible gifts by its bedside. The children slept, frozen into time.
He envied Prometheus and Loki, Sisyphus and Judas. His punishment was harsher.
Ho.
Ho.
Ho.
Slider didn't sign it or anything. Just a little slice of terrifying for these days of Yule.
P.S. This is actually part of a set of Christmas note cards!

Ever consider complaining to your boss?
here's the thing... it's a tiny office. There are only 20 people in the whole office. I'm trying to be as discreet as possible and not involve anyone else. I don't want to get him in trouble, or for the whole office to know I hate him and think he's crazy. This would have worked fine if he didn't insist on remaining 'friends' with me.
There's no reason for him to EVER speak to me. We do completely different jobs, and our desks aren't that close. All he has to do is stop being polite and start ignoring me.
He makes me extremely uncomfortable, and his fixation with my 'intellect' squicks me even more. On top of that he's now pissy and slightly resentful when he comes over to say hi? That's crazy right? No one is forcing him to be my buddy! In fact I'm gleefully discouraging it!
I think I'm going to pull him aside today.

What's weird is that he still comes over to say hi to you...and from what you say, he's not being polite. Sounds like he now has a huge chip on his shoulder and is not content to just bear it quietly, he has to let you know he's hurt in a frighteningly-passive-aggressive-we-can-have-a-friendly-work-relationship-despite-the-fact-that-you-can't-stand-the-odor-of-my-very-presence-wafting-over-the-walls-of-your-cube manner.
I wish I could suggest something, but sadly that's just his way

Ugh... ...I'm sorry to say this, but I'm not sure eyes could pass as doorways...the don't really allow anything to enter, nor escape the corpus...I'm afraid doorways are elsewhere on the human form.
BUT, Liz, it's not too late to change your Yule Lad, quick be the Sheep Fold whatever!

Well, in an effort to avoid all licking, sniffing and sucking, I think the only YL you can be is Window Peeper...that sounds pretty safe Although you'd have to look him in the eyes...do you think you can manage that?
Shouldn't be too hard...unless, unless...unless it ends up being like the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark where all who look upon the opening of the Holy Grail meet with the unfortunate fate of their faces melting off...
WHO DARES LOOK THE SLIDER IN THE EYE?? (in booming, techno-phonic, over-sized Ursula the Sea Witch voice)

sorry about the creepiness, but I have to say I love Neil Gaiman too. But it is a bit disturbing considering who it's coming from.

Re: Slider may be Icelandic...
So am I. This guy really freaks me out, and I think I'm worried of how he'll react. Especially taking his previous reactions into account. (The email, the NOT leaving me alone, the attitude)
I have a lot of things I want to tell him, mostly how angry I am, but I think all I should really say is 'You are making me extremely uncomfortable. Please leave me alone completely.'
