Small/Intimate Bridal Shower?
My sister is the only one in my bridal party, so she is putting together my bridal shower (when that happens). The problem is that she doesn't have a lot of money; hosting a shower with 40-45 people would be very hard for her. My mother passed away over 4 years ago and my dad has never been good with money (gambled lots of it away over the years). And my family in general doesn't have much money. When my sister got married, we did a surprise shower (she didn't think she was getting one because she didn't plan on having on) and it was just immediate family on both her sides, which was about 10-12 people.
I guess what I'm saying is, is anyone else in a situation like that? Where they don't have much money for a bridal shower? Does anyone have any suggestions for showers for people with little money?

We are doing a very small shower like 50 people and my moms paying. It will cost around $2000 and that was at a inexpensive place. what about a shower in the home?We had my sister in laws at my parents house.

Do you know of anyone that has a large backyard? My friend did a garden tea party theme for her sister on her property and it looked fabulous! She had about 30 or so ppl over, some of the bridesmaids that came all chipped in and brought something to. Maybe that can work. You can also try milk and sugar. I think its like 35 pp there. Also try looking at pinterest for ideas:http://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?rs=ac&len=2&q=backyard+bridal+shower&term_meta%5B%5D=backyard%7Cautocomplete%7C0&term_meta%5B%5D=bridal%7Cautocomplete%7C0&term_meta%5B%5D=shower%7Cautocomplete%7C0

Well, my sister wants to use my backyard; the only other person I can think of with a decent size backyard in my family is my cousin, but she is a passive aggressive see-you-next-tuesday who I don't like. I may ask FH's cousin if we could use hers. We'd have to have my shower in the month I'm getting married (May), otherwise it'll be too cold in the other months.I'm just worried that some people may be offended if we can't invite all the women attending the wedding. And just the general cost of getting food/decor. I mean, maybe I shouldn't worry about it because I'm the bride, but it's just in my nature to worry for other people lol.

I would suggest doing something at somebody's house or backyard. You could make a majority of the food or get a few trays catered depending on the budget. The other option would be a brunch shower- then you could find places for $18.95 per person but that still adds up and can be expensive for 1 person to foot the bill.

I don't think you need to invite every woman invited to the wedding to the shower...I am definitely not doing that for mine lol. I am just keeping it family and my friends. My parents invited a lot of friends that I'm not going to invite all of them to the shower

Small/Intimate Bridal Shower?
My daughter is only having a 2 girl bridal party. I cant really afford to throw a full blown shower and i felt bad for the 2 girls to have that extra expense, so we are just doing a 'bridal brunch'. The moms, sisters and 2 girls (14 in all). Using the term 'bridal brunch' i figured people wouldnt be annoyed if they werent invited because its not a 'shower'. This way the bride gets a special day for her and some gifts, but not at a major cost.

Thanks ladies. I'm not feeling as bad. My sister was scared earlier this year when FMIL suggested inviting every lady to the shower. lol. Champagne taste, beer money is a good description of my FMIL.Also, every bridal shower I've been to recently has a majority of the women who were invited to the wedding in attendance, so it scared me a little.

cassidys pub in bellmore. Food is amazing, and its a staple where I live. one of the best places, not a huge place but can fit a nice amount of people in there.

My surprise bridal shower was very small and intimate. My FMIL hosted and opened her home to 20 of my girlfriends, catered food and she made some kick a$$ cosmos.

Good to know! I live in the area and know where that is actually so I'll have to consider that when doing my shower! thanks :)

I'm in the same boat as you! I dont have a relationship with my mom, however my sister is my MOH. And she will be hosting my bridal shower at my best friends house, who is actually my matron of honor. I cut my list down to only people I know/want to have there and so it would be comfortable in the house. I dont know any of the other details but I stressed to them, I didnt want them to go overboard! Good luck!

Not sure if this is over the price range but if you like greek ayhans does a nice all you can eat brunch on Sunday and they can close off the back area with a curtain and I think it's 17per person.Or wait till the summer you can do a bbq in someone's house or even at a park (pick a rain date). Eishenhower park is really nice.
