Small Wedding

Small Wedding

Fewer than half of the guests we invited are coming to our wedding (money problems or schedule conflicts, they say).

We're now going to have about 80 people, when we first expected about 120!

I know there's no such thing as a too-small wedding...it's all a matter of personal preference. But I still fee like this is SO SMALL!

We're going to have this big, empty space....

Does anybody else have a guest list this short?

Sure! There's a bunch of brides (including myself)who are having under 100. I'm hoping for 85, but I think I'll be closer to 95. It will be easier for my FH and I to greet all our guests and still have fun!

Me too and I wouldn't have it any other way. I personally would much rather have a small wedding.

I wish I was having a smaller wedding we were hoping 145 but now it is like way more than that...

in reality I wish is was under 100...I wouldnt let it bother you if you are upset about it ~ the most important thing is you and the man that you love will making the most beautiful committment to each other...

Re: Small Wedding

My sister is only inviting around 85 people to her wedding....My best friend thinks she'll have around 65!! I personally like smaller weddings better, they are more intimate and personal. What venue are you having your wedding at? They can also set the tables up so that it doesn't appear small. It will be fine and think about if you were just having a party of 80 people - that is still a lot of people!

Our wedding is only going to be about 60 people. This way we get to talk to everyone.
I'tll be nice with no so many people. 80 is still a lot.

We too will have about 80, that's the way we planned it!

We invited 120, and had 85 people attend. IMO, it was perfect. Not so many people that we were overwhelmed and didn't have a chance to 'see' and talk with everyone, but enough to make it a fun party.

We also invited a large amount of people and ended up having a drop off rate of about 35%! It was perfectly fine. I think sometimes a large guest list can be overwhelming.

Re: Small Wedding

we actually went to a wedding last year that had 85 people, we thought it had a really intimate feel to it-- the bride had lovely candles lit up everywhere.

I think 80 is not too small of a wedding-- but I guessit is all a matter of preference!!!

Re: Small Wedding

We wanted a small wedding, we are inviting at the moment about 160 (it went up since our first assumption of about 100-125), but a lot of the people are from OOT. So we are hoping for a smaller list. I remember my aunt always talking about her friends wedding that was very small, and she said it was the best wedding that she had ever attended, since they were able to mingle with other guests and that it felt more intimate.

We are having a very small wedding! Only inviting about 50 people and we expect maybe 30-35 will actually come.
A smaller wedding can be just as beautiful and maybe even a bit more intimate then a lager one

In many ways if i could do it again, i would do a wedding w/ about 75 people. We had 200 and it was great but you feel like you just cant see everyone
In your case, you will be able to have a nice intimate affair and enjoy your guests company. I was crazede before the wedding that i didnt invite more people from work and now... Im SOOOO glad i didnt!!

I recently attended a wedding that was about that size. It was great!! I actually got to talk to the bride for more than a brief 10 seconds when she did table rounds.

i'm also having a small wedding and am pretty excited about it. i like the idea of the small, intimate feel around the reception. right now we have a list of about 85 people to invite and expect around 60 to come.

enjoy it ...

MissMooz,
This is so weird but I am having the same problem and my wedding day is the same as yours! We were expecting 125 and I think we're barely going to make 90. I have to admit, I am really bummed. But a lot of the OOT guests couldn't make it and I thought they were going to.

Yup, we do! We're inviting around 80 people and will probably end up with 50-60 or so. We wanted a more intimate setting. Don't worry, it'll be fine, I'm sure they'll set up the tables in a way that there isn't so much room left over.

Re: Small Wedding

We invited 180 but only had 108. But everyone had plenty of room, and we were able to go to every table and talk to everyone. It was so nice to have an intimate crowd, and we could really enjoy our guests' company.
