Small Wedding in New York City
Hello Many thanks for those who replied to my earlier request. A quick re-cap, my boyfriend and I(from England) will be visiting New York City in October of this year, we will be with our friends another 5 couples. While there we are considering getting married, we have been together for 22 years, but just haven`t got round to it! Anyhow, I am looking for any ideas, basically a setting somewhere to have the ceremony, followed by a meal then onto a club to celebrate. There will be the 12 of us altogether, does anyone have any idea of a venue, hotel, restaurant that would cater for such a situation? Would a hotel cater with a nice setting to have the ceremony and then a meal afterwards? One suggestion has been to go for a ride in Central Park in the horse & cart after the ceremony. We would like to keep costs to a minimum, there could possibly be another couple in our party getting married as well? Any ideas would be most appreciated, we`ve spoken to City Hall re; license, also City Hall wedding too casual! I`m thinking intimate/romantic but with that special touch of New York! - Thanks for your help.

I posted this before but Gemmelli's is on the mall of the World Trade Center. Great NYC locale and great food Also try the Seaman's Church at the South Street Seaport. Great view of the Bklyn Bridge What about the River Cafe in Brooklyn. Can get married outside on promenade and then celebrate in resturant. good luck jen

The Water Club is also nice as is the Top of the Peninsula Hotel. Great location and amazing view. If you are looking for view, you can't beat Windows on the World or the other location that was mentioned at the top of the World Trade Center. Arthur's Landing is across the Hudson River in New Jersey but has an amazing view and a little boat takes you over there (about a 10 min. ride across). There are literally thousands of options here in Manhattan. You may want to visit www.zagat.com and take a look at locations that have private rooms. Without really knowing what your approximate budget is and what you are really looking for, it's a little bit difficult to narrow down the options.

If you want to do something in Central Park (where the horse and buggy rides are) there is the Boat House and Tavern on the Green Restaurants. Tavern on the Green has private rooms and I think they have a prix fix early dinner. As suggested previously Zagats is the bible of all restaurant goers in NYC to check online. http://www.zagat.com http://www.centralpark.org Good Luck and Happy PlanningWelcome New Vendors
