I'm a 2011 Bride; went back and forth with having a big wedding; then a destination wedding; now thinking about just having a small wedding here in NY (or NJ) for about 50 people. We have a tight budget so really can't go over that amount of guest; any suggestions on beautiful places to hold a small wedding??
Thanks!

Anywhere in particular in NY or NJ? I could recommend some places in Queens or Staten Island with a small minimum.

I'm pretty much open to-Queens; Manhattan; Long Island; Brooklyn and parts of Jersey close to the city.
I have plenty of time so my search is pretty broad right now.

Re: Small wedding venue suggestions
In Brooklyn there is Gennaro's that can host a small wedding and they have packages which include everything. Pictures, limos, dj..but a lot can be desired with the vendors. The place itself isn't super fancy and is kind of bare bones. I'm not sure what type of decor you are looking for. Siricos caterers in Dyker Heights can host a smll wedding and is around 90 per plate. Again, the decor really isn't up to date. Vetro in Queens is owned by Russo's on the Bay and hosts smaller events, just opened and from the pictures looks beautiful. I've heard nothing but great things about the food. Per plate is around 100. Douglston Manor in Queens is really pretty, per plate is cheaper I would say then Vetro and I think their minimum is low. maybe 65-70. I would call to find out.

When i was looking to have a larger wedding i visited Westbury Manor; i just e-mailed them on menu & pricing for a smaller event. Same thing with the Swan Club-i'll see what their prices are.

If you consider doing it on a off day you might be able to get that, but it will likely be BEFORE tax and grauity. I was quoted that price at several venus for a Thursday night in the summer.

I went there over the summer and loved them. Maybe i'll go back and look at their smaller room.
I think the problem is i don't know what i want. In my mind i envision a small wedding maybe somewhere in the city; but all the places i have looked are out of my budget so i'm focusing back on long island for right now...UGH don't know what to do!

Re: Small wedding venue suggestions
Milleridge has the carriage house which hosts up to 100 MAX so the minimum to guarantee is much less.
George Washington Manor has variety of rooms... i love this place since its very different (2nd choice for RH).
The Metropolitan is a small venue on a whole but downstairs they have an even smaller venue called 'The Club.' Very loungy but has a nice wood bar and two separate rooms so you can still have a separate cocktail space and then move into a different room for the dinner. I LOVED this too since its different and would definitely consider it in the future for other parties.
HTH! Good luck.

Re: Small wedding venue suggestions
Definitely check out the Milleridge Carriage House. A friend of mine had hers there, and LOVED it. She's excited we chose the Cottage for ours.
