small weddings?

Hey girls-

i was just wondering how many of you all were having small/small-ish weddings.

I am inviting about 80 and having a dinner reception rather than a hall.

Are those of you with smaller weddings doing anything differently? Adding anything?

just curious...

'Raises Hand'

We are having a small wedding too. We invited about 70 people and it looks like we will have about 50 guests when all is said and done.

Ours is dinner and dancing because our friends are all partying fiends. It will pretty much be a normal wedding except our cocktail hour won't have tons of stations or anything like that.

Where are you having your dinner reception?

I'm having it at a restaurant in Williamsburg. they have a sound system, so we'll probably bring cd's or an i-pod. I'm not sure how much room there is for dancing, though we do have the whole place for the night.

Im having a smallish wedding Im having it at the polish hall and although there will be a decent amount of people im having a buffet style and not a sit down it was so much cheaper than a regular hall

We invited about 75 people and are of course, expecting about 60.
We are having a buffet, no cheesey ' the bride cuts the cake ' stuff (in fact, no 'cake...just a Vienesse Table), no Bo-ok Toss (instead we are doing an all girl's dance dedicated to my mom), no garter toss.

But we are doing a Soul Train Line, which I am really excited about!
Basically, drinking, eating, dancing with the people who are closest to us!!!! How can you beat that!!!

Isnt it unfair to say that the bride and groom cutting the cake is 'cheesy'...I mean alot of girls on this site are doing it...

I would have loved to have a venue in manhattan, but we had a really short engagment, so I had to get on a place really fast!
I live in Williamsburg...the place is right down the street so fh and I are just walking home!

I'm having 100.

The CD/Ipod idea is so cool, I'm doing that.

I wont say it's small just only about 175 people :)
But we arent having the sit down dinner...I paid more for the DJ and Bar then anything All of my guest are party animals...and no suprises as stated on invite.....'Elegant Adult Cocktail Reception'

Instead of throwing bouquet I will be playing some sort of game to fancy it up a bit :)

That is such a great idea! Everyone always says the cocktail hour is the best part of the wedding anyway!

yeah inivited 150 and only about 105 are coming

We are inviting 125 (although the list seems to be growling lately). We are expecting around 100 to come. We had to keep it pretty small since we are on our own to pay for it. It's been really hard cutting down our list since I have step parents and their families. We had to eliminate co-workers and a lot of others that we wanted there. I know we are going to be hurting some people's feelings, but we are already struggling to pay for everything.

Since there are hardly any single people coming we are not having a bo-k toss or a garter toss. We also only have a MOH and a BM. There are no FGs or RBs either. There are just too many little ones to pick from and we don't want to hurt anyones feelings.

We only invited 75 and we are having the reception in a hotel banquet room. We are doing a sit down dinner.

Re: small weddings?

We are having a very small wedding. Our families are so small. We expecting about 75-80.

We think that almost everyone will come because it is our closest family. We are doing the traditonal things, but because it is smaller, I don't need as much. I guess that it is better. I am just afraid it will empty!

Every time I go to a vendor and talk to people were the number of guests come up, I get the impression they think we are cheap.

It is none of their business regardless.

I had sich a hard time finding a hall to accomadate us. Anyone lese have that problem?

Re: small weddings?

We're having 85 people--that's the minimum we guaranteed for the hall, so that's how many we have to have! Our wedding will be a little different, but not so much because it's small, but because neither of us like the very scripted sort of wedding reception. Ceremony, pictures, cocktail hour, introductions, first dance, food, other dances, blah blah... We're hoping it will be more like a good party. But since we're having it at a reception hall it's still set up with a cocktail hour and dinner, and that's OK. But no introduction, only a first dance for us so we can show off our new moves (we're going to take lessons), no other 'special' dances, no garter, no bouquet toss, no planned speeches. I supposed people might get up and talk if they're moved to, but there isn't going to be a script. Just dinner and dancing, and when it's time for dessert we'll cut the cake. We're hoping this won't be 'just another wedding.'
