sneaky realtors....

well we had our first 'losing a house ' experience this weekend. I am pi$$ed esp. with the other agent who toally was shady and jerked us around.
the house was listed Sunday!!!!! I get the prospect match Dh and I drive by it and are struck...1/2 an acre detached 3 car garage in our price range adorable!!!!! We call immediately that we want to see it Monday...The agent says she isn't showing it, and my agent asks to make an appointment for today (Tues) agent says call tomorrow the home owner doesn't know their schedule.
Whatever...Today doesn't call my agent back until 4...wind sup having a fight with my agent...Turns out they showed it on Sunday had an offer that fell through on Monday and now has 7!!!!! offers 3 or 4 over bidding!!!!!!
WHAT THE F*****!!!!!!!!
This other agent was a total hag and secretly showed the house but wouldn't let us see it...Sometimes people are just out for themselves and don't do buisness correctly..

I'm fuming!!!!! At least give us a chance to look at it...Why lie and not let us come???

Totally unethical and your agent should report the other agent. We had that with the first house we lost. The other agent tried to tell us that we couldn't resee the house that the owners wouldn't be home, my agent had set the appointment up directly with them. When we got there the owner was home and expecting us!!

I am so sorry,

You could actually write a letter to LIBOR and complain, it sounds like what she did was unethical (called a pocket listing). If you do send a complaint make sure to put in detail every conversation and when you had them. Your agent will have to help you because it will help if you have her conversations noted also. LIBOR will then notify the agent's manager of the complaint and she will have to respond (a very time consuming task apparently). Good luck.

We dealt with two sneaky realtors when we found the house we bought...they played so many games with us, I cried all weekend thinking that we were going to loose our house (they instigated a bidding war).

I know how upsetting it can be having these people play with your life.

a pocket listing??? Meaning he showed it to who she wanted to...obviously her clients to increase her commission?

When we were looking we went through the samething with realitors. I know there are ethical realitors out there, but it doesn't seem like many from experience.

Exactly that. I'm not saying that is what she did, but if so, that is what it is called and it is not allowed if she is a LIBOR (Long Island Board of Realtors).

Unfortunately there are unethical agents out there but please don't think we are all like that. Just like any profession, not every person behaves properly. With real estate, it can seem more prevalent because when you are looking to buy a house, you deal with so many different agents and it is a very emotional process but I truly believe on the whole, most agents do the 'right' thing!

thnaks Misha I have faith my in my realtor and thus far most of the other agents...
I guess the first time you always fall the hardest being a first time home buyer and in a way quite naive to the sytem...

I'm getting over it and already looking into new prospects!!!!

Re: sneaky realtors....

That is totally obnoxious of these realtors.

Some friendly advice:
We covered the board with agents. I made appointments at 4 realtors in the area I wanted to purchase and got four realtors for 4 seperate companies. My thinking was that in an sellers market the listing agent will take their time gettting the word out as they would rather keep the deals in their company so their company gets the whole cut. It is sort of like an exclusive. In this case, if a house goes on the market by one realtor, she turns to our realtor (her friend) and whispers to have her client come by and take a look at it. In one instance, I got to go to the house before it was even listed.

You might really like your agent, but you want aggressive agents who are hungry not necessarily nice.

Our agent is an obnoxious hustler, akin to an 'ambulance chaser'. She hears of a deal going down or sees construction being done to a property and is on the phone with me immediately.

Re: sneaky realtors....

I am sorry that agent is such a jacka$$. We went through so many uninformed real estate agents it would make your head spin. When we finally found our house we were using four or five agencys and not allowing any of them to know. This way one of them was always calling or e-mailing with something within our criteria. Good luck with the hunt.

Does anyone think a realtor would actually have the guts to tell somebody they received offers for higher than yours... if they really didn't receive anything. You know say the house got offers just to get you to jack up the price?
