Yesterday we were talking about our eparty...he keeps wanting to invite more people, and I wanted to just stop and if people said no...that would be fine with me. But he thinks that when people say no that means that you can invite someone else!!! (we dont even have the room to do this- we already over invited by 13 people and have only gotten 2 no's!!!)
So then he proceeds to tell me that the wedding isnt going to cost that much $. So at this point I looked at him and asked him how much is not a lot of $ to you. He tells me under $20 k...Thank GOd I was sitting down because I would have fallen down. I dont get how he could be so CLUELESS!!! He was with me when we booked the hall and I have been mentioning prices to him- where did he get this number from?
Is any of your fh this clueless??

Erroneous thinking, kind of like this.....almost drove me to put FH in a coma until the wedding planning process was over. I'm in no way a demanding or over the top bride....but to hear how utterly wrong he was with his money concepts was far too baffling for me to grasp. Looking back...I probably shouldn't have gotten angry at him for being ignorant....but what can you do when they know the numbers but just don't take the time to add them correctly. It's mind blowing, really. If you can gently laugh it off...please do.

Well at first I asked him how he was coming up with that number and he was unaware of how expensive things are...then I had no choice but to laugh...but still he scared me a little

Oh yes! He thinks the wedding is gonna cost around $15,000. He is from upstate so he doesnt understand LI prices. He also wants to invite tons of people. I don't want to be introduced to anyone at my wedding. He and his family are not paying for it either. Its myself and my mom. I am fine with that but he needs to understand that its more $ the more people or things you have. They just don't understand!

My husband was the same way during our planning. He had no idea of the prices until I spelled everything out for him. The per plate price was one thing, but then add in the tax and gratuity to come up with a per plate number, multiply that by the number invited. Then he got the idea. I spelled out all the big charges : the photography, videography, flowers. I had worked on a budget and shared that info with him.
Once he found out what the per plate charge was, he came around and realized that we could not invite EVERYBODY.

Oh yeah!!! Mine is clueless. He was married before (over 20 years ago) and he thinks wedding halls cost 65 a head total, flowers costs 1000, my dress should be no more than 1000 with everything. When I showed him the budget, he almost had a heart attack.

LOL- when we first started planning, my FH thought our wedding would cost about that,, now we have double that and it is funny to see how aware of wedding details he has become.. and the cost!!
Your FH will see the 'light' and be Shocked at sticker value of what he wants soon too!
