so today i was suppose to go to CLM for a tasting and when i called they said no room, so come on tues, no problem. so then i call my parents and i tell them its next tuesday and they say okay , then my mom tells me that she doenst wanna book any RH now she wants to wait till at least a year b4 the wedding. W-T-F everyone is bookin now, for 2 years from now.... im like so upset about this but i want there blessing on this and now if i go and book it by myself my mom will be so upset!...what do i do

Did your mom mention why she wanted to wait at lest a year before the wedding?. Try mentioning to her that if you don't book now that you might lose out on the date that you want.

aww im sorry colleen...i would talk to her and see why she wants to wait...maybe she doesn't understand that people are booking now and that you don't want your date to be taken...when I was al nervous about not booking right away Lou (from CLM) said not to worry...they are very available in 2009...I think it is still considered early to book now but i completely understand why you want to and think you should be able to do it. Talk to your family...maybe you can work something out?

Are your parents helping you with the wedding? Because if not(no offense to your mom Im sure she means well) She cant say you cannot book now.
But if they are helping you with the payments, then try to compromise with her. Or rather, let her compromise with you. Explain to her that the RH's book very quickly. And in some cases, you only have to leave 500 or 1000 to hold the date or book officially. You could always suggest that you could put the deposit down and your parents can work some type of payment plan out with the BM of the hall...see if that works.

Did you tell her this is what you want? Im sure with some daughterly love(and much convincing!) she'll go...sometimes Mom's are harder to convince about things than boyfriends!

You should tell her that you have called around and a lot of reception halls are booked for that day so you want to make sure you get the place that you love and you dont want to settle... once she goes to CLM and taste the food, she might give in

yeah try to tell her that if you wait till 1 year before the wedding, no dates will be available.... all of the places i went to were booking up SUPER fast...

Tell your mom that if you book two years in advance, you will lock in a much better price than if you wait a year. Even just a few dollars increase a head really adds up when you are multiplying by a few hundred people. Not only will you lock in reception hall prices, but you can start booking other things like the photographer and videos etc....their prices also increase by year. In my FH's family a lot of people have gotten married oevr the past two years or so and we have all been comparing prices and believe me, there has been a steady increase. Tell her that a lot of people book two years in advance and if you do you will be sure to get the day you want and all of the other things that you want because you are ahead of the game!

This is totally true!!!! It is crazy how the rates jump from year to year.... Also, more and more people do longer engagements.... we went to some halls that already have some dates in for 2010. I do not mean to upset you, but I want to give you a heads up.... To make you feel better, Pinkiegirll07 booked her hall 10 months b/4 her wedding!!!

tell her that people are booking things much earlier - you usually have a certain amount of time to cancel if you change your mind, i have until 8 months before the wedding...
