Once you pull the bumpers out of the crib and move the mattress all the way down, how do you keep the little bugger from hitting his head against the bars??? Ryan keeps trying to pull himself to standing, or to reach for me as I'm leaving the room and he keeps hitting his head!! I'm afraid he's going to knock himself unconscious!!?!?!?

Not a stupid question! We had the same problem -- both Connor and Ryan kept bumping their heads and their arms and legs kept going through the slats. After we lowered the mattress as far as it would go, I admit I put the bumpers back in and sort of shoved them in between the mattress and frame. Ryan sleeps with his head in the corner and he was waking up with slat marks! I do worry about it, though.
