So I go to my co-worker's wedding mass today and I caused drama!....sorry this is long
you know, the PE teacher at my school that I shared a shower with. Wow, she looked unbelievable. It was so fun to see her all dressed up when we normally see her in shorts and sweats!!
I wish I had pics but you'll understand soon why I don't have them. The ceremony was long- and it's a good thing it was. Right after they were pronounced husband and wife, they went into the longest communion rite I think I've ever seen. All of a sudden, I start feeling short of breath and faint. Luckily I was with friends. I literally sat there at the pew, with my head down, sweating profusely. My friend said I felt so hot- even my other friend behind me could feel how hot I was without touching me. It took me 15 minutes to feel like myself again, without feeling so dizzy. Right in time for the bride and groom to make their procession!
The other PE teacher who was behind me went to the bathroom to wet down a paper towel for me....and a complete stranger sitting in front of us ran to the gas station across the street to get water, gatorade and orange juice. He even held a bag open incase I had to puke!! I felt like the biggest idiot- so many people around us were turning around and looking cuz they knew something wasn't right as I had my head down and everyone was attending to me. I felt SO BAD.
I don't think the bride and groom knew as it was going on...thank goodness!! But we didn't go to the receiving line cuz my friends thought I shouldn't be standing for such a long time. So after I sat a while I went to the front of the church, and I saw the bride. She was happy to see us, and by then she knew. All I can say is, thank God I didn't throw up or really faint or need an ambulance. I would have felt AWFUL to do this to her on her day.
When I saw her she said 'You better not do this on your day!'
Guys, I really have no idea what was wrong with me. It so came out of nowhere. I felt fine all day- just exhausted because I woke up at 4:45 and couldn't go back to sleep. All I knew was, I started to feel short of breath and then really hot and faint...and it lasted for 15 minutes. I think I better head to the doctor tomorrow.
Just had to share in this ridiculousness! Does anyone have a clue what might be wrong with me? FH and my friend think it's anxiety and stress but I'm not like that! I was thinking such happy thoughts when it happened! Being at the wedding made me feel so excited, and it was all becoming so real! Go figure! But I literally do not sleep normally anymore...I wonder if that has to do with it.
Thanks for listening!

Thanks girlie!! I hope you can get through it too!
I really think I might need to have my heart checked out...reading up on this stuff on the internet isn't helping me. It's only freaking me out. That weird feeling I had before I was faint has happened a couple times...where I feel like I have to catch up to my heart or something, but it lasts just a few seconds. Today, it just made me really short of breath...so weird. No way am I telling my mom. I have to go to the doctor first.
And I am OBSESSED with my health so this is really freaking me out!!!

I was having something simlar happen to me -- I actually just finished up with the cardiologist on Friday. Thank goodness they said everything was ok and it's probably anxiety.
Maybe FH is right. Sometimes you can stress and not even realize it! Go to the Doc and get checked out to put your mind at ease and try to take it easy!
Let us know how everything goes...
Feel better!!

Were you having trouble sleeping? Like waking up way earlier than you should and not getting back to sleep?
Fh keeps saying it's not even just the wedding- i was stressing like mad with all my end of year concerts and whatnot...he says I'm always thinking and always planning...but for it to affect my heart that way? And the weird thing is, I was having such great thoughts about the wedding when it happened! When i first got there I got a little nervous thinking about it...but then I was just getting so excited and happy! It's just so weird...
Thanks for sharing your experience! I hope I can see a doctor tomorrow because I have a full week with fittings and the bachelorette party!

I was having trouble sleeping as well....I'm sure it'll be ok....take it from a girl whose brain never seems to shut off!!
With such a busy week just make sure to make some time for yourself to relax each day. 15 minutes can do wonders!

Wow!!! We are so glad that you are feeling better. Now, that the school year is over you will have more time to rest. Remember to take a nap here and there. Also eat well and drink lots of water. Here are some hugs.

I'm glad you're okay. Could your blood pressure or blood sugar have dropped? I'm perfectly healthy, but every so often, especially if I don't eat for a bit or I'm too tired or stressed, my blood sugar dips a bit too low & I begin to feel exactly as you described. A few sips of juice or a cookie usually helps.

Oh wow, thankfully it wasn't any worse than that! Your bride friend is right - you better not do that on YOUR wedding day! Seriously though, get that looked into!!!

Go to the doctor. It could just be anxiety, especially since it happened at a wedding. It might be that you're not letting yourself realize how stressed you are. So go to the doctor, get checked out, and if they don't find anything (virus, whatever) the doctor will probably just give you a bunch of stress-relieving suggestions.
Glad you're OK!

exactly what i was thinking too! so glad youre better now tara, i have had fainting spells like that before but it was usually related to me hyperventilating over something stress/anxiety provoking. Or something as silly as getting blood taken! But I know how scary that can be!! My hearing would start to go and my vision was all funky and I would sweat profusely. Def not what you want to be doing at a wedding! Keep us updated. Try some activities that you find stress-relieving!!!

What I don't get though is that I was having seriously happy thoughts when it happened! I was so excited! And the last time my heart did that weird stuff, I was heading upstairs from my room where I just had an amazing concert and I was thinking how happy and lucky I am. And then my heart felt a little off but I caught my breath and was fine...I don't get this stuff! So odd!
Thank you all SO MUCH for your advice and concern!!!

I have an anxiety disorder- and I would be almost 100% sure that you are showing symptoms of anxiety. I would make a visit to the dr, just in case- but other wise just try to relax and maybe learn some breathing exercises to help an anxiety attack pass faster and with less discomfort.
Good Luck!

well maybe you are too overjoyed with happiness. You keep saying you are in such a happy place when it happens. You know the little kids that lose their breath when they are two years old. that whole shake their hands and then its like breath breath breath because they are soooooo excited.
well with the wedding, the success in your career maybe you are just so elated that you don't even realize it. Then when you put the excitement with all the planning and the lists and the stress side of it, it gets to you. Top that off with lack of sleep, (are you eating properly and healthy?) and maybe it's just a lil bit of everything.
I am no doctor, nurse or anything of that sort, but I have learned when i need to walk away, put things down, let something go, because my anxiety, stress, and planning can cause me problems

Sounds like you had what I get all the time...Panic Attack...OMG...I am really glad that you are ok....They are very scary and you always have to trick yourself. It's hard to do...but just try to take a deep breath and ignore it. It took me a while to figure that out.... Glad you are ok...

Thank God it wasn't your wedding.. I would definitely advise you to take a tranquilizer on your wedding day.. I was ok on mine, but I took a small piece of a valium and was cool as a cucumber.. it works!!!
