but DH's mother wanted to give us $100 to put towards Cassidy's christening (which was very nice), and she addresses it to him only, the check made out to him.
Is that weird or is it me???

I often make it out to one of the spouses, for the child. It just seems easier to me for one of them to cash it that way.

My mom always addresses checks just to me. It's easier for one person to sign and deposit.

my grandmother does that mainly because she thinks that DH and I would both have to sign it if it were made out to us. So she makes it out to DH, since he goes to the bank. She does not want it to be an innconvience. maybe that's it?

DH mother sends any mail that is leftover from NY that they get to HIM, even if it has stuff for me in it!!

My DH parents did that. It was only annoying to me because I was going to the bank and I couldn't take that check because I couldn't sign it.

I wouldn't look too much into it. my FIL sends checks all the time just in my DH's name- and whenever he does make checks out to me or the girls, he always spells our names wrong!! always!! she just probably figured it would be easier to deposit into the bank...just one name, just one signature.
