So I know there are tons of DisneyWorld fans here (myself included), but has anyone gone to Universal Orlando lately?

Just curious how the ticket prices work there , and how you liked Islands of Adventure

Thanks in advance!

I loved Islands. Its my favorite park of all time. But its completely different from Universal. Lots of rollercoasters and thrill rides. Last that I remember, it was about $50 for a one day pass.

Thanks for the info Diva !

DH and I are both HUGE coaster/amusement park fans (the bigger and faster the coaster, the better to us!), so we really want to check Islands out if we wind up going down south ...

But I also love Universal Studios as well, so I'm going to look up a park hopper type of thingy on their site..

Girl, let me just tell you I am an avid rollercoaster junkie (FH isnt, wuss ) and the hulk is my all time favorite. They fool you by thinking your going to slowly inch your way to the top and then speed up. NOPE!! Half way up it stops and you are LAUNCHED out!!! Its so exciting. They also have the dueling dragons coaster, which of course you have to ride both! Oh and get on the Dr Suess ride. It looks like a kiddie coaster, but it's really good. Now you've got me all pyched to go!

We haven't been there lately; DH and I went about 3 years ago, but we LOVED Islands of Adventure! We're roller coaster fanatics too. The Hulk is an awesome ride! Universal Studios was ok; I'd been there before and not much had changed since the first time that I was there about 10 years earlier. I'm still mad at DH for being cheap and not buying the picture of us from the Men in Black ride

Oooh Oooh now I'm getting all psyched to go also ... I have heard from a few friends that the HULK is awesome, but I wasn't sure about the other rides there..thank so much for the info we are definitely going to make it there when we go!

Diva seriously - if you are a coaster junkie, they you should drag your FH anyhow and plan a trip to Cedar Point in Ohio .. its got some of the best roller coasters I've EVER been on, I mean even I was kind of terrified to ride some of them but the adrenaline rush was sooo worth it!

Brrrrrrr...... you just sent shivers down my back.
I cant wait for this wedding to be over, so I can go back to traveling.
FH is the biggest wuss. When we went to MGM, I had to beg him to get on the aerosmith coaster. A great ride, but come on, its childs play. When we got off he was shaking like a leaf and vowed NEVER to go on any rollercoaster again.
I love my macho man!!

I have been to Universal Studios quite a few times also, so I was wondering if it was worth it to go back .. maybe we'll just go to Islands and skip the Studios, since I've done all those attractions SO many times .. though I never did to the MEn in Black one, and I hear they have a new MUMMY attraction which seems kinda cool

I'm such a sucker for all this stuff!

Oh and just another quick piece of advice. The second you get in the park, get advance tickets for the spiderman ride. By far the best ride I've ever been on. There are no words to describe it because there is nothing like it. By far the best ride in the park. But the lines are crazy so do yourself the favor.

We went there last year at this time and loved it! The Superman ride is awesome!!! DH's company had part of the Island's park for one night and we got the ride those rides over and over again.

The tickets work like Disneyworld... if you buy individually, you have to get one for each park.

Like I just said.... I LOVE the Spiderman ride! We went on it about 6 times that night! The Hulk is great too.... because it was closed there was no waiting for the front seat! The first time I went on the Hulk... I nearly wet myself because of the launch and was not expecting it at all!

Oh thanks for that heads-up .. literally EVERY single person I've spoken to has loved the Spiderman ride the best...

So do they do those 'Fastpass' types of things like Disney does, where you get a designated time to go back and bypass the main line?

We'll probably wind up staying at a Disney property and renting a car, but I was noticing that if you stay at one of the Universal hotels (Hard Rock, etc) you can actually bypass the lines by showing your key .. That is a great deal, but the Universal hotels are soooo $$$ I just couldn't swing it

They do do the 'fast track' thing but what I really love about the park... If you stay on their property, you have a special line which moves you right up to the front.

Yup, its all true. I found that if you go early, when the park opens you can get on the good rides for the first two hours without waiting. Anything after that, I would get one of those fast passes.

If I remember correctly, their 'Fast Track' is limited in the # of passes they sell. They run out of them quickly.

Oh we would definitely hit the park right when it openend, shoot for Spidey first and then Hulk and then take our time from there

Look at me I'm planning my day at Islands already and I still have to book the trip

Thanks ladies for the helpful info!!

PS: Diva- if your FH thought the Aerosmith coaster was bad he would never step foot on ANYTHING at Cedar Point
