So I told my DOC that I am unhappy with her services...

So I told my DOC that I am unhappy with her services...

She said she is 'taken aback'...apparently she has no clue that she ***** (no surprises there). Anyway, now I have a major dilemma....We have paid her $300 so far, and still owe quite a bit more. I can fire her and go with someone else and lose the $$, or I can stick with her and pray to god that she comes through for me.

I don't know what to do!!

Is she not willing to give you the 300 back? Or at least half?

i think actions speak more than words. It sounds as though she may be unrealiable. I wouldn't chance it. If you can suck up the $300 I would lokk elsewhere!!

What's your feeling from your conversation with her? Do you think she'll use your talk as a wake up call or she'll just have resentment towards you for telling her the truth and how it is?

I'll send you an FM.

Alicia, if you OWE her more than you've already given her and you're unhappy, cut your losses.

You could probably get a DOC out here for a FRACTION of what you are paying Miss chi chi....the hoity toity vendors are not always the best...

tell her your 'takin' a' back' your contract and be done with it.

If she didnt come off as apologetic and is will to be more responsive and you can afford it, I would take the loss.

You are already unahppy and any little thing she does wrong on the big day will get you further upset.

Peace of mind has no price tag. I know it's $300 and it's painful to lose it, but honestly, you're very unhappy with her, and have been so for a while now. IMHO - I would try to find another DOC who will make up that $300 to you w/their services. It will still come out to less than what she would be charging you.

I agree..

if you have bad feelings now, wait until your wedding is 3 weeks away!

I'm speaking from experience......if the $300 means more to you, continue to use her. BUT if you are having doubts she will come through for you...FORGET THE $$$ AND FIND SOMEONE ELSE!!! This is your wedding day, you do not want to look back and have regrets about anything! I have major major major regrets about not sticking with my gut feelings about a vendor I used just because I gave her a $200 non-refundable deposit 5 months before my wedding. I was too worried about losing that $$. In the end this vendor let me downin the biggest possible way by not even showing up and giving me the courtesy of a phone call. Because of this, I started my wedding day in tears and the stress of the morning followed me and my family around for the rest of the day.

Re: So I told my DOC that I am unhappy with her services...

Thanks, girls. I actually told her over email last night...I haven't spoken with her on the phone. She is apologetic and says she feels bad...she believes herself to be 'one of the best in the business' - HA!

I don't know...FH thinks I am just wasting away $$ with this decision, but I really have been unhappy for awhile, and if I can justify it I think I am going to.

I am considering switching to Laura at LA Productions....she is doing my votive placecards and has been great over the past few months when I contact her.

Ugh - my DOC was the one vendor I didn't do my research on....I read a good review of her on theknot.com (from someone that met her at a party....didn't even use her services) and we clicked when we met, so I booked her on the spot.

She has turned out to be way different than how she sold herself.....so I think you are all right, I think we should just kiss the $300 goodbye and move on to someone more reliable.

I forwarded her response to FH, and am waiting for his 'go ahead', but he can be really stubborn

Re: So I told my DOC that I am unhappy with her services...

Also...this may seem like a petty thing to complain about, but it really bothered me...

my DOC met me at my venue once to go over logistics, and she was 15 minutes late....she didn't apologize for being late when she arrived and she didn't answer her cell when I called to find out where she was.

Sorry, but out of all people that need to be ON TIME it's the DOC!

Alicia, it sounds like you are REALLY unhappy with her, and any groom should know...

an unhappy will make for an EVEN MORE unhappy

Same thing happen to me. A DOC that is well known on the site was supposed to meet me at 7:30. She calls me on my cell at 7:18 to tell me she is stuck on the highway and she will not be there no time soon, I was already in the resturant. This one reason made me not use her.

If you feel uncomfortable now how do you think you will feel on your wedding day. You have to trust this person to put out any fires that day. I say forget about the money you already gave her and find someone else.

I actually cancelled an appt with a DOC because in one e-mail she referred to my DH (then FH) with two different names in the same e-mail...

Ummm...attention to detail my butt....AND...she's popular on here as well.
