SO INCREDIBLY UPSET!!!

If the friend is faking it yes, I would agree... but nothing the OP has said indicates that she believes she is faking it.

As someone who has experienced severe back pain, there are times when you really cant take a muscle relaxer or pain killer and expect it to go away. In October I was in so much pain that even moving the wrong way while lying down had me crying because of the agony.

having experienced this, and knowing someone who has a medical condition where her spine is deteriorating, I can understand when you hurt your back and arent able to do anything.

But for OP to say she wants to end the friendship because a friend, who no doubt has already spent the money for the dress, the shoes, the presents, the bridal shower, the bachelorette party, has hurt her back and is unable to attend a wedding... people are going to have their hackles raised because of it.

She's being silly, and anyone else who would let this ruin her day and end a friendship over it...well, now you have some new friends

No the day won't be ruined....but I would still be upset and i think the bride has a right to be upset. Just being like 'Oh....oh well s-it happens' is unrealistic. Also, depending on what happened, if the BM could just sit for 15-30 min for the ceremony instead of walking down the aisle, i think i would feel a little bit better.

My bigger point was how mean everyone on the board was to the poor bride. She was upset and came here to vent, which we all do....and everyone shot her down and basically called her a bi-ch....and thats not cool.

But what don't you get about her completely SELFISH and NARCISSTIC attitude? How could people NOT have reacted this way? She sounds like a spoiled brat.

'One of my bridesmaids for my this SATURDAY wedding just cancelled on me!!!!! I'm beyond furious and upset. How could she do that? She hurt her back, which I get, but she is ruining my wedding day! This is my oldest friend and she said she 'hopes this doesnt end our friendship'-- i told her it wouldnt but I think it really might -- I think based on the way I feel right now, I'm DONE.'

This reads as she doesnt care that the friend hurt her back, that if she is unable to attend the wedding its going to ruin the wedding and she is done.

The reason for not being there was the afterthought, she was upset that her friend is not going to be at the wedding. It reads that she doesnt care the reason, that its going to end the friendship.

Maybe I look at it differently because I have been there, as have others on here.

But its harsh to say that if a friend has a legitimate reason to not be there, that hte friendship is over.

I was in a wedding last year where 2 days before the wedding a GM backed out because he had the flu. The bride and groom didnt flip out, they understood because health of their friend came first. they werent happy, but they dealt with it

I guess i gave her the benefit of the doubt....i didn't think she sounded too horrible. She sounded pretty upset to me. She's on edge, the wedding is coming up soon and now a curveball is thrown into the mix. Its just a sh-tty situation.

I agree that she came on here to vent but it was how she said everything. I'd probably be upset too but not to the extent to end a friendship. I feel there might be more to the story as to why she would want to end a friendship. I don't recall attacking her and If I did I'm sorry. I'm not on here to bash someone for venting, but what she wrote seemed kinda harsh to me...
