My fiance and I got engaged in January and are planning on a Fall 2008 wedding.
Originally we had looked at RH in Jersey (where I am from) but the prices were so high- so now we thought we would try Long Island.
We are thinking about 125 guests- and would like to have it on a Saturday night- can anyone give me an idea on prices and where I could get the best deal?
Thanks futuremrsfab
Just to add a little more information- North Jersey most places were between $140-$180 (before tax & tip)

Honestly, I don't know how much cheaper it will be in LI. But, you are looking at Fall. If you do it later than Nov. 1st, you'll probably get the best deal. Try North Ritz Club, Jericho Terrace. Even Westbury Manor.

If you are looking for Fall, you might be able to get a break.
Try looking at Jericho Terrace, Westbury Manor, The Metropolitan, Chateau La Mer, George Washington Manor...

Hi.
Long Island is also super pricey. Each place has it's own pricing and it all depends on day and time of year. If you are looking to save money do it during the off season (again this depends on the place) and NOT on a Saturday night.
Just start clicking on vendor sites and calling places asking for pricing. Each place will treat you differently and depending on who you are you may be able to make a deal.
I got married at The Metropolitain in Glen Cove and I loved it. The food is just fabulous and it's beautiful and they treat you great. There is a gorgeous park around the corner that is on the water for pictures. Check it out!
If I were you I would CLICK HERE! and go down the page clicking on each one to see what you like.
Good luck!

We are getting married in early winter, on a Sat. night, and are getting a very reasonable deal. FM me if you want details. you can definitely find good deals on the Island. You just have to look all around to find them. GL!

What about trying Westchester (closer to Jersey). The prices I found there were reasonable.

Fall is the new spring, apparently. Halls are pretty much dead between Christmas and April, according to our banquet manager. And I hate to say it, but it's probably more expensive to have a wedding here than it would be in Jersey - a minimum of $80/head as a starting price for the size you're looking at.

Re: So new at this & need help!
Here's my advice:
Have a wedding between mid November to mid March. Those are the best times to get the lowest rates. September and October are now just as popular as June, so you won't get a deal there.
Have a wedding on Sunday day/afternoon or Thursday night (apparently Thursdays are gaining momentum now!). Those are the cheapest popular days of the week to get married. If you don't like either of those, aim for Saturday daytime or Friday night.
That will help you a LOT with the costs. There are a few places you can get for $100/pp or slightly less. I know I was quoted that for Fox Hollow and Jericho Terrace (small room).

Re: So new at this & need help!
From when I searched, since I am a December bride, the prices were not any cheaper. They drop after the first of the year.
That being said, you can always get good deals for day weddings, Friday weddings or Sunday wedding if looking to save money.
