so not happy with a vendor!- UPDATE!

I posted on here last week about how a vendor deposited a post -dated check two days early and I ended up being hit with $105.00 worth of fees...
yea well we're totally getting the run around from this vendor. he said he'd credit us and now he's saying that he'll contact the bank and try and get the fees waved.
bank of america will NOT credit a fee if they were not at fault.

I've lost sleep over this issue and honestly FH and I are not happy with the customer service.

We don't know what to do. Do we cancel the order and loose the $600 we've given to this vendor or do we continue with them and be un-happy?

**** UPDATE****
SO, I GOT AN EMAIL FROM THE OWNER, HE SAID HE FINALLY SPOKE WITH MY BANK AND THAT THEIR ERROR DID INDEED CAUSE SO MANY FEES TO MY ACCOUNT, SO HE SAID THAT FH OR I COULD STOP IN ANYTIME AND PICK UP A CHECK FOR $105... SO THIS IS A +, HE'S REALLY NICE, HIS WIFE NOT SO MUCH [B/]

If it were me, I wouldn't want to lost that $600.00- hope things get better with them.

Re: so not happy with a vendor!

losing $105 is better than losing $600 IMO. if he hasn't credited you for the $105 when you pay the rest, then just pay him what you owe minus the 105...

eta: it was probably an accident -- they prob just put all their checks in a big pile to be deposited and yours probably ended up in the pile by mistake! their bank shouldn't have cashed it though....

I would prob stick with the vendor, even though it wasn't really good what they pulled on you.
I would just demand that he lower the remaining balance or throw in some other type of free service to accomodate you.

And if he doesn't, then I'd tell him 'well I'm going to create a thread about you on LIW and you will not get any more business from future brides!!!'

Re: so not happy with a vendor!

so the vendor does not plan on crediting you the 105 you lost anymore?
i would let him deal with the fight with the bank, or make sure he credits you.
if anything, im sure he feels really bad and will do the right thing. i hope so anyway. but if you love the vendors work, then losing 105 is better then losing 600.

Re: so not happy with a vendor!

its so hard to explain without giving up the vendors name/info.

the $105.00 might not seem like a lot to all of you, but its a lot to me. and its just the principle of the thing... you mess up, you make it right... not you mess up, you pretend to care then nothing happens...

FH and I just don't want to get screwed in the end.. we feel that if they could screw us over this early on.. imagine what they could do to us in the end.

he knows I'm a liweddings bride.. and I WILL let everyone know what he did... and I have a lot of friends who are getting married after me....

I just want to SCREAM his name and warn everyone... but I don't want him to see and screw me over!

does that make sense?
brittndave Posted:

Re: so not happy with a vendor!

yes, that makes sense but i wouldn't assume so early that he won't make it up to you ...

it's also very likely that he has seen this post, and even though you didn't mention his name he knows it's about him, so he knows how upset you are about it. no vendor wants to lose business over their mistake, so i'm sure you will see that money somewhere in their services!

eta: if the $105 is a lot to you (i understand this, trust me) how can you even be considering losing $600 before you know for sure that they aren't going to give you the money back? let him fight with the bank and when they say no to him, he will have no other choice than to just credit you!

I wouldn't want to lose out on the $600 or the $105, especially since it was the vendors fault. They should def credit you or take that money off the total you owe because you should not have to pay for that. I am sure they will try to make up for it in the end!!

If you really like the vendor and this is the only issue you're having with them, I would just give him a few days to credit you back or just talk to him and have him deduct the $105 from your balance. If the vendor keeps giving you the runaround and you are not comfortable using them b/c of that, then you would have to see if it's worth losing the $600 that you already spent.

Good luck!!!!

maybe he can throw an extra in...

105$ is a descent amout of money but ITA let the venodr deal with it an dif its not fixed DEF take it from the final payment!!!! i would def not want to lose 600$!!!!!!! i think that would be wayyyyy worse!

I don't understand how the bank isn't taking responsibility for this if they processed a post-dated check. This should fall on them.

Re: so not happy with a vendor!

on second thought, if he wants to throw an extra in instead of crediting you the money make sure it's worth more than $105 bc if it's not, or it's equal to that amount, it's not 'an extra' you're essentially just paying for something else!

Re: so not happy with a vendor!

i agree, marjorie, but you're technically not allowed to post date checks. the bank shouldn't have processed it anyway, but since you're not allowed to post date, they aren't going to refund money for something you can't do...

Re: so not happy with a vendor!

firstly, i agree loosing $105 is something i would be pissed about. no its not $600 but every $1 counts.

next, you really should get in touch with the bank, the check was deposited at & be insistent with them. if your check is post-dated, shouldn't the teller have looked at the date???

i know in the past i accidentally tried to deposit a post-dated check & the teller at the bank told me it was post-dated.

Re: so not happy with a vendor!

i don't know.. I just don't like the service we are getting...
there's nothing they can throw in because of what the vendor is... (again, can't give too much info, without giving them away).
I just want them to do right... write us a check for $105.00 and call it a day. We'll be happy with that.
Don't tell me 'i'm so sorry, I feel horrible' and then give us the run-around...
and honestly, I don't think its HIM... I think its his partner...

URGH!!! I REALLY WANT TO SCREAM THEIR NAME!

it is perfectly legal to post-date checks. its part of the tellers job to look at the date on a check.
