Muscle weighs more than fat! (I know it's easier to say, and not as easy to deal with)

Just keep it up! WW is a proven program!

Good luck!

muscle weighs more than fat, so if you are working out and building muscle, that is probably the reason for the increase...

Don't let it get you down. . . . It happens to the best of us. If you let it get you down, you might end up giving up all together. You know muscle weighs more than fat and from working out, you show gains before you see losses . . .

Go by how loose your pants fit, not how much you weight.

muscle does way much more than fat - like twice as much i think - i know it's hard to look at the scale numbers, i go through the same thing but i also use a tape measure for certain areas, and that's usually more accurate for me. keep your chin up!!!! it sounds like you're doing awesome!!!

On Oprah last week, her trainer said that if you start to exercise while you are dieting, you will GAIN weight. He said its because your body is dehydrated and when you exercise it makes it more thirsty. So it does everything you can to hold the water. That is why you gained!!! But you will lose the water as long as you continue to drink. You are doing the right thing by exercising. Just give it one more week.

I've heard that in addition to muscle weighing more than fat, your muscles need water to repair themselves...so you may be retaining some water in the couple of days after working out with weights. Don't let it get u down though...the workouts are worth it in the end!! Let your clothes be the judge, not the scale!

I did WW last summer and kept gaining each week... .4, .6.... it kept adding up! I got so frustrated... So I cut back a little at the gym, but kept walking and such and the weight came off slowly... But I understand your frustration.. I felt like a failure! But everyone's body adjusts differently to working out and WW too... I just had to find my balance

Keep drinking lots of water so your muscles can repair themselves after you work out. Instead of focusing on the weight loss numbers, look at how your clothes fit. Are they getting looser? Try taking measurements, too. You will begin to see a difference even if the weight isn't coming off as quickly as you'd like.

Ok ladies, here's the key!!!! I JUST had this conversation with the WW lady last week because I've been working out about 4x a week and I've only been losing about .6 pound a week! If you follow the points system and lets say you are supposed to have 20 points a day. If you are working out and you burn lets say 4 points, now you have just dropped your intake to 16. If you go under your points, your body goes into starvation mode and store everything as fat. She told me to keep track of my excercise points and eat more on the days that I work out to make up for it.

I said, You don't have to tell me twice!!!

Don't worry and congrats on the 14 pounds!!! I'm only at 9.2...

It happens! It happened to me last year when I joined. Remember that you're toning up and muscle weighs more than fat.
That was the one MAJOR thing I hated about WW...they focus so much on a number that you can be very discouraged and quick like I did...meanwhile....I was doing the right things just not losing at the pace they wanted me to. Stick with it...don't give up like I did. It works and with working out...you'll get better overall results...

okay hold on!! your muscle may be going up now and muscle weights more!! you may just be more toned now which is a great thing!!

Exactly!!!! Be excited about that. You lost fat and gain muscle.

I know its hard but weight is meaningless- inches are what counts- your weight fluctuates every day between 1-3 pounds depending on your salt intake, time of the month, etc. Also when you work out you lose fat but gain muscle which will help you take off more weight in the long run. DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED by a small weight gain. Start doing your measurements in addition to the weigh-in. 14 pounds a huge acheivement! You should be really proud of yourself!

Re: so sad..

This is what bothers me about WW, it measures by weight loss not lost inches.

Please make sure that you are eating healthily while exercising - when you work out your body needs nutrition and fuel.
