I'm so sorry, but it will all work out in the end, and you will have a beautiful wedding!!

Are you totally against having it on Father's Day?

Re: so sad and upset...

Yeah, I don't really see a problem doing it on Father's Day. Most people just bum around that day anyway... so it's a nice way to spend the day. And you'll probably get a better deal. I'd seriously consider that. Sorry your date was taken That smells.

ETA, don't get discouraged. I'm a big believer in the everything happens for a reason, so not that I wish anything bad on whoever took the day, but there's a reason you shouldn't get married that day... maybe it's going to crazy rain. You'll find out later you were happy this happened for some reason and your day will be awesome

Re: so sad and upset...

i rather not have it on fathers day. not only does the prices increase since it's a holiday, i'm also afraid that a lot of my guest wont show due to the fact that it's fathers day...

Re: so sad and upset...

why not a friday? if your only other choice is the day after your co-workers wedding you could do it then.
if your not inviting the same people it should be ok.

i've never heard of a RH charge more b/c its father's day - its not really a holiday like that

Re: so sad and upset...

i can't do it on a friday b/c of how far it is in LI. no one would be able to make it on time... most of the people i am inviting are coming from the city and with the friday afternoon traffic on the LIE, no one would be able to make it...

i already asked about the price for fathers day, and it is indeed more.

so then do it the day after your co-workers wedding! if someone really wants to go to both of your weddings they will! this is not for you to stress out about!

Re: so sad and upset...

i would take the sunday after your co workers wedding. You guys are not close friends so its not like you guys will have alot of the same guests. If june is really important to you then go for it.

The only thing i would consider is will your job let 2 people be out at the same time? both of you will probably take the same few days off before your weddings and since she did hers first they might honor her vacation request and not yours

we don't work in the same dept, so taking the days off wouldn't matter...

but in all honesty... if you were faced with the same situation, would you be comfortable having your wedding the day after a colleagues? i feel like i'd spend my entire wedding day wondering what she did the day before.

Re: so sad and upset...

ok, DON'T EVER THINK THIS WAY!

there will always always ALWAYS be someone who will c omplain about SOMETHING at your wedding.
you can't make everyone happy, so don't try.
its your day and its about you.
i would have no issue taking that day

I would take the day after your coworker...Especially if you are not close. It's not like she's having it at the same place or anything.

And I DOUBT you'd be thinking about what happened at her wedding when you are minutes away from getting married yourself!! good luck

that's the thing, she is having it at the same place, it's the exact same venue!

Honestly, I'd be uncomfortable about it so you need to decide what is the least of the evils

Father's Day

Day before coworker at same venue

Or a different venue

I personally think Father's Day is your best bet. Anyone important enough will come to your wedding on Father's Day, I promise. It wouldn't stop me or my dad... and since you invite family to weddings, they still get to be togehter, KWIM?

Sorry! I missed that part. Sigh...that is a tough situation. Then it would tremendously bother me. I hate feeling like I'm 'copying' anybody. What kind of a person is she? The catty type who'll take it personal? Will you have a bunch of the same people invited to both?

If alot of the same people are going, I'd try to go for another place...I don't want people eating the same food they had the day before. JMO.

she talks, everyone talks. but we don't hang in the same crowds and at this point, i wasn't really planning on inviting any coworkers (as i'm someone who rather keep my work and personal life separate)

i'm absolutely in love with this venue... i really dont know what to do.

Re: so sad and upset...

if your not going to invite your co-workers, then no one has to know where you are getting married if you don't want to tell them.

you can still get married at Bourne and have the wedding that your FH wanted

Re: so sad and upset...

I agree with the girls that said if coworkers arent invited, just take the date! June 2011 is more than a year away, like you said, you guys dont really hang out so for all they know, it was a crazy coincidence! You can even tell them your choice was limited becuse of your mom's wish for you to be a june bride.

But you really don't owe them an explanation
