So scary at Target today...

I was in the Target over by Melville getting diapers (thanks to the tip of another poster that they were tax free) and I couldn't help but notice as I walked in this beautiful little darling (big eyes, curly blonde hair, cute as a button) standing online with her mom at the C/S line. Anyway, she was chatting away and kept wandering from her mother's side. The mother called to her a few times. So I'm doing my thing, hit the women's are for some sweaters and stuff and then head over to baby's. The mom is there with the chatty little girl and I smiled at the Mom who was obviously getting frustrated at the little girl who kept wandering off (clearly she was distracted herself with whatever she was buying. She was also preggo. So, I move to another area and the chatting abrubtly stopped. Then I hear 'Kayla?'...'Kayla???'.....'KAYLA!!!' and nothing...The mother started searching around calling the little girl's name and nothing. She came running over to me and asked me if I saw her daughter. I froze because she was literally JUST THERE. A few seconds later as I'm searching around for her, it was all over the building that this little girl was missing. Near 10 minutes later, some woman looked under the riser where the strollers, etc. are and saw her hiding. I heard her say 'Are you hiding from Mommy?' and the little girl giggled. This poor mother had a complete meltdown in the store. I couldn't help but cry because it was sooo scary!!

OH MY GOD! I never truly understood that feeling until I had my own child. That poor mother. I would've been the same way. What happened when the Mom found her daughter? How scary!!

She completely freaked out, hysterical crying, openly sobbing. She was obviously very-very mad at the little girl (she was around two). The little girl kept asking 'Why are you crying Mommy??? What did I do to make you upset??'. No clue! Thought she was having a blast under there I guess. The mother instantly put her in the cart. I was so worried about her though....I was so worried how the stress would affect her pregnancy.

Re: So scary at Target today...

I had something like that happen to me when I went into Toysrus. My son disappeared in teh store he ran away from me. But I wasnt by myself I had Dh and my father there too. as well as my younger son. My younger guy was in the wagon and I showed my older one a toy and he got scared of it and ran away from me. my dh and father of course werent with me but I was screaming for my son adn dh to come over I was so scares. I ran to the front of the store and told someone up front and they told me to stay by the door in case someone walks out with him. He just up and ran away from me scared. It was a toy and I was showing it to him cause he saw a commercial for it on TV. This happened 2 yrs ago but I was scared $*itless. Somone found him hiding in a tower of diapers. A pile of diaper boxes in a pyramid shape. You wouldnt have thought to even have looked there. A couple was buying diapers for their daughter and saw him curled up in the bottom of the pile. But if you were looking for him you def wouldnt have looked there. They even paged him over the speaker and he didnt come out. It was def a scary experience as if I didnt say that enough.

Same kid I also lost at the beach. We learned now he has a thing for wondering off so we have to have a third eye trained on him alone. Always no matter how tired or busy you are you HAVE to keep an eye on your child. It is a very scarey thing

That is horrible

I hope I don't get payback some day...I did the same thing to my mom in Macy's when I was about 3. They shut down the entire store bc they thought i was kidnapped. Turns out I was hiding IN a towel display.
