So someone called my hall to see if they knew my wedding was cancelled?

I'm really just in shock right now and only one person comes to mind who would do this....

FMIL.

Yes she doesn't know that we booked but I'm starting to think someone told her or she some how found out.

I got a call from my BM asking if my wedding was still on. Of course I am in shock and tell him it is and why is he asking. He says that someone called asking for a manager and when he called them back they asked him if our wedding was still on because they wee hearing we called it off. He of course said they have information for htem right now and the best course of action is for them to contact the couple.

He did give me the phone # that he called back but it's an unlisted number and I do not recognize it. It could be a number at his mother's job or a cell phone of her friends.... I don't know.

Well we verbally agreed on the phone that my wedding is not cancelled unless I come down there in person to do so myself. He's making a note in my folder that no changes are to be made except by me in person. Absurd!

I was litterally getting tears in my eyes. I don't think I should even tell FH cause this will only start trouble when I don't know for sure (although I'm almost certain it was FMIL).

And still with all this time before the wedding I can only wonder what else she will try to sabotage

Well she continues on this with crap she will get hers... FH was saying that if this goes on he doesn't want her at the wedding cause who knows what she will say or do the day of.

It's his decision and I will never tell him his mother isn't welcome. It's his mother, his decision.

But it is best for now to act like nothing happened cause if we start looking upset or talking about this around her she will know what she is doing is getting to us. We'll just act like all is well

Like I said though... another thing happens we are sitting her down and letting her know this is happening whether she wants us to marry or not. She doesnt have to attend the wedding if she doesn't approve but is more than welcome if she wants to be there.

Maybe I should hire a bouncer for my wedding? Just to keep FMIL in order?

I would call that number back blocked and find out who answers.. you could even pretend to be calling them back from the RH.. I would have them under lock and key .. Its sad that you have to do that.. I would hide any other vendors you have picked out.. for all you know they could be lurking on here watching everything that you are saying.. (I have my own FIL drama) and I wouldnt post it on here.. people are crazy.. sorry you have to deal with this...


I would do that same thing.

It's disgusting that people would actually do this. I believe a while back there was a girl in 08 who had her vendors cancelled because there was someone calling and cancelling them. Everyone has to make sure they let their vendors know that if any cancellations are to be made to only have them done in person!

I must have missed that one. But I think I might look into the possibilit of hiring someone.

Wow that is crazy!!!!!! Your FMIL is nuts if it was her. I never put my reception hall until after I got married. I didnt want to risk anything. Let your BM know that unless you and FH go in person together to cancel the event they should not take any calls/visits seriously.

Luckily I haven't booked anything else yet. But anyone I do I want to make it clear that no one cancels anything unless I come to them in person and nothing be canceled over the phone. Or if it's easier to call me back at MY phone number to confirm.

FH and I both sign EVERY contract with the stipulation that we must come and cancel it IN. WRITING. or it's NOT canceled and we don't even have any crazy people trying to cancel our wedding.

It's the reason we both sign... that way if something happens and we both call it off... we both have to cancel the contract.

Do reverse telephone # look-up. I think the site is called Any Who.com. It might be able to tell the name of the person.

Yeah I did that and all it could tell me it was a land line in nassau county. Unlisted number.
