so tired of hearing about increased security & potential attacks

since NYC has been on alert since 9/11, why is everyone harping on the increased security lately? We've always been on high alert.

And even more annoying, is hearing from the news about all the precautions we should be taking. Specially, Fox just reported saying we should have 3 days of food supply, along with duct tape to tape up our house in case of a biological attack. W T F? Are you kidding?! Are they trying to make us completely paranoid? What can we really do if something happens? It just gets so upsetting to hear

Sorry, just had to vent....don't want to depress everyone!

OMG!! I just heard that too!! AND THE $600 Terror kit!! What are they kidding. They are playing on people's fears. It's not right. I bet you the next couple of days at the supermarkets are going to be crazy!

Terri, I have switched the channel so many times I think my TV is now stuck on Nickelodeon So we know do we have to see it and be reminded of it every single minute. I just want to scream Roger says everything is news in NY, so if not snow then Terror Alert it is.

FH comes home from work and puts on Foxnews, CNN, MSNBC etc... I cant take it. Im a Comedy Central Addict now.
But maybe with all this 'We are on HIGH ALERT' will show those A$$holes that we are on to them and spare some innocent lives.

They should take all the alqueda into a field and blow each other up. Then they get to their 'heaven' for killing others, their own 'kind'. Just an idea.

I aslo heard that info on the news last night.
We cant live in fear for the rest of our lives. That is what THEY want us to feel, and if we let them make us feel like we are terrified in our OWN country, then they are the ones that will win.

I don't listen to it, b/c it will make me way too paranoid. They say 'high alert and ducktape' one minute, the next minute they say 'live your normal lives' SHEESH

I don't believe it. I think Bush just wants people to be scared to death so they go along with his so called war to save us from terrorism.

I'm really afraid that something is going to happen ... listening to the news or not, I feel like this is our reality!

My DH and I travel to and from the city everyday - him in Midtown and me, downtown. I'm just so afraid that something is going to happen to one of us, that it's starting to make me really anxious.

Seeing the WTC get hit is a dramatizing affect that no matter how much I try to calm myself, the fear is there!

I am not sick of hearing it, just in shock of what we are hearing. It's really making the reality of possibly war sink in. This is so terrifying. I just hope that we don't get attacked here in the United States.

OMG! I totally FREAKED out after hearing what Fox told us to do!!! I told my mother and we are both more panicky than ever!!! It is a little ridiculous! Which makes me wonder, why they are making such a big deal now... I don't know... I try not to think about it and hope it will just go away!

I hate Fox news!!! its such a tabloid!! I wouldn't watch them if i were you. Stick to the reputable stations.

i'm so sorry melissa and for those others who witnessed that horrible tragedy in person.

ya know if we give into the fear these morons don't ever have strike again because the fear in itself is terrorism-they are terrorizing us with just the thought of a potential attack--so it's like either way they win-if they just hold the threat over our heads-they are winning because we are scared and we alter our lives-and if they strike they harm us. i worry because half my family are NYC cops but what are you going to do? Just live your life, be smart, trust God and live everyday to the fullest and hold your loved ones dear!

I HATE Fox News...they are just like the NY Post - the sensationalize EVERYTHING! 3 days of food supply and duct tape w/plastic sheeting to seal off your home??? W T F!!! Give me a break!
YOu know what make me even madder??? I wonder how many elderly people that they terrified with that report?? People who cannot get out to the stores very easily, or people who don't have anyone to help them. It's so wrong, it just makes me sick!

Oh Melissa, I am so sorry about your experience. I had so many friends and family who had 'near miss' experiences that day...and, sadly, some who did not...that it is very hard to think back and remember like that.

I, too, am sick of all this terror alert. At first, I agreed that it was just FOX sensationalizing things as usual but when I read about the 'precautions' in the WSJ this morning, I almost choked!

They (Ashcroft and company) ARE saying to have stuff ready in case... but it's a BIG 'in case'. They're pretty much saying we 'probably' won't need it... but have it. so don't freak.

Glad to see I'm not the only one! Granted, I have Fox - they're so unprofessional, but I had it on from Joe Millionaire last night!

To be honest though, all of the news channels are reporting these things. I just feel that unless we all become paranoid freaks, there's really not a whole lot we can even do, so why keep 'warning' us. SHould we quit our jobs and stay home all day??!!
My DH works in the city, as well as travels often for work. I hate worrying about his safety all the time - it's such a horrible way to live

I hate everything too- but even if it is sensational or annoying I am going tonight to buy our 3 day supply and our duct tape. I have to protect my family- so this is what has to be done. During WWII people planted victory gardens and sacrificed because it's what had to be done...

Instead of being mad at the news or the government we need to take the steps to ensure that we protect ourselves, our family- and make sure America stays strong and proud.

I unerstand the need for reminders for people to stay alert to things that don't seem right, unattended parcels, people acting suspiciously, a lot of people can become complacent.

But I don't think the media or government should create more panic in society. To say watch out for something, we dont know nor can we tell you what, where or when is more harmful to the mood of the nation then helpful, IMHO.
