an acquaintance of mine used to have a bridesmaid dress shop. so for my girls dresses she was giving us a $200 dress for $160. she ended up going out of business the week before i was going to leave the deposits. so luckily no one lost any money.
my mom has been searching frantically for the past month for a store with a comparable price. she found a store who will sell us the same dress for $180. (blue dress) however, the store doesn't have the greatest reputation.
in the meantime, my sister & i started looking at other options. we found another dress that we love, but its $360 before tax & alterations. (brown & ivory dress) i realize that is a lot of money to spend on a dress.
my sister & i sent out an e-mail asking the bridesmaids their opinions on the dresses, since they will be wearing the dress & paying for it.
well i was completely attacked. one of my cousins flipped out & said that she is not even willing to spend the $180 because, her & her boyfriend are saving up to by a house. (meanwhile a month ago they where breaking up because she was unhappy) i am so hurt. she has been in at least 15 of her friends bridal parties over the years. going away for the weekend for bachelorette parties & everything. but for me, her cousins she can't even spend $180.
call alexandra boutique and speak to joseph. have him quote u. hes located in forest hills. if u dont like the price he gives u, tell him u got quoted 160 and u wanted to see what he could do.
as for the bride that told u shes not willingi to even spen 160 on a dress cuz shes saving up for a house, she shoudl be ashamed of herself. id spit on her if i were u. its an HONOR to be in someones BP. and its not like it was forced, she agreed. what a stupid pos.

Keep looking!! I am sure you can fidn the blue. A lot of stores carry it. As for the second I have to agree that I would not spend that kind of money on a BM dress, it is beautiful but I just wouldn't.
Sorry your cousin is being that way. Maybe you could add the extra $20 per girl as part of their gift.

Try Burton's in Melville... if they carry the designer they are usually MUCH cheaper... They quoted me $160 for a dress that was $220 or more every other place I called.
Good Luck and don't let her bother you. She's terrible for saying those things to you.

i must have called at least two dozens stores getting quotes on my BM dress. The dress I wanted was $280...I got it for $240...I would definitely call around some more. And honestly $360 is a lot for a dress...maybe you can have a replica made instead.

Call Here Comes the Bridesmaid in NYC...they have awesome prices. The bari jay dress my girls are wearing is close to 200 dollars in other stores. They had it for $170 but bc we had a large bridal party they gave it to use for $136. Thats an amazing price imo.
also...they have a website you can just order the dresses from directly and the prices on there are even cheaper.

I would kick that girl out of the BP. When you agree to be a BM you are agreeing and understanding that there are some cost involved. She is being a little selfish, especially since it sounds like she never had a problem with cost in the past.

Did you check the price at RK Bridal? I saw the blue dress when I went there a week ago but I didn't look at the price.
Sorry your cousin is acting like that, but really $180 on a BM dress has no effect on her wanting to save money to buy a house.
So sorry to hear about your cousin. She should realize that she's at min., obligated to get the bm dress since she agreed to be in your party.
RK Bridal DEF has the 1st one but I don't remember their price.

I can see not wanting to spend $350 on a dress, but $180 is the norm IMO. When you agree to be a bridesmaid you are saying ' I will buy my dress' and you have to assume its gonne cost you $150-$200 ATLEAST! That was mean :( I would shop around more for the one you really love and see if you can get it for less. And if she is gonna be a pain, tell her that she should not be in the BP. You don't need that stress... its a happy time :)

Instead of your cousin attacking you, she should of told you how much she is willing to spend. It almost sounds like she was looking for something to fight about so she can get out of being in the BP. If i were you i would sit down and talk to her, ask her if she wants to be in the BP at all. It really ***** that she is being like this but atleast you are finding out now and not later on.

My cousin is the same way! She has no money - but she went on 4 vacations this summer and not road trips. Yeah 4!!!!!!!
Did you try Burtons in Melville? I am getting my bridesmaid dress from them for my sisters wedding and it was $60 cheaper then all the other store - and when I was at commack wedding center this past weekend they said they would meet any other stores price.
I would call burtons and commack wedding center and ask them to match the price.

wow im so sorry u are going through that i tried hard to find a reasonable priced dress for my girls and for me, it was difficult to find anything under 200, so i think what u found is a great price!! It really comes down to that this is your wedding and u should pick the dress u want. If she wants to be in the wedding she can wear it and if she wont then she prob shouldnt be in your wedding anyway!!!!

i would def. call burtons..also, the bm dress i picked out i found at bridal reflections for 210, and lillettes it was 170, but since i bought my dress from them it works out to be even cheaper, bc you get a 10% discount-do you get a discount at the store you bought your dress from?

THE WEDDING CENTER IN COMMACK
they carry every designer and if you find a store that offers it cheaper, they match the price and give you free stuff.
Here is the catch. The dresses are great... TONS in every size color and designer. The prices are awesome. Its a one stop shop BUT the customer service is atrocious. If you go there willing to help yourself, you will be fine
I hate the people that work there since well, they dont work, BUT ordered a dress I wore for a wedding there, and my girls are getting their BM dresses there.
i know for a FACT they have that dress in the store, its been on display.
Definately go there and look at the dresses, but do go when your PMS-ing

sorry this happened. i would call around and compare quotes.... but i do think $180 is reasonable, when you agree to be a BM then you agree to at least shelling out that much on a dress.

sorry your cousin is acting up! she's crazy to say she doesnt want to spend any money on a dress....that's part of being a BM! i think over $300 is definitely expensive but keep looking.
