So it was supposed to be a great day and it kind of ended crappy I went to try on my dress with future mother-in-law and one of my BM so I can put a deposit on my dress. Well the day was great and I'm still absolutely in love with my dress. I bought my veil that I purchased for a steal. I get home and start examining the veil and it has a pretty decent tear :( I think it got caught on those stupid clips that hold the dress together. I don't know if it will be noticeable and I can get away with it. I really don't want to waste money on another veil. Is there a way to hide it or try to prevent it from ripping more?

Oh no, that's horrible. I wish that I had a suggestion. I hope that everything works out.

Do you think a seamstress can fix it?

The store is no longer in business but thanks for the suggestion
I read somewhere to buy a piece of tulle and patch the area with clear dress tape. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet.....

Re: So upset
clear nail polish will stop it for tearing more.

Re: So upset
ok this is a shot in the dark here but what about that clear bandage stuff for cuts? The liquid stuff that goes over a cut so it doesn't get infected and acts almost like a glue. Maybe that would work?

Re: So upset
I wore my mothers veil for the 60s, i had it restored back to white but it did have a few holes in the bottom (probably from my dad stepping on it haha) but seriously no one notices, I would say that if its not in the front of the veild, where the veil frames your face then dont stress

Oh nooooooooo, soooo sorry to hear that. Bring it to the cleaners to see what they recommend. Where exactly is the hole? Is it really noticeable? or is it really small. If its really small I would not panick..no one might notice it. ARe you wearing it all day or are you removing it after the ceremony?

I wsa thinking of talking to the cleaners to see what they say. I wish it was only a small hole. It's pretty big but I may be able to hide it b/c of the way the veil folds. I will take a picture and upload it when I can.
I wanted to wear it for the whole reception. It's a finger length veil.

Re: So upset
I would try hairspray or nail polish and hope no one notices. If you aren't crafty, I would worry that trying to patch it might make it look worse.
Are you only wearing it for the ceremony? So honestly, you'll have it on for 3 hours? Yeah I say try to just make sure it doesn't run anymore and call it a day.

Re: So upset
I don't know if this will help or how far away you live but Tri-County flea market has (at least the last time i checked there was) a vendor who does veils. My mom got my communion veil there years ago. She has been in business for many years so she knows her stuff.
Hopefully she is still there and can help!

I would take it to the cleaners or a seamstress and see what they can do or if they have any suggestions

So sorry to hear. If you think it happened at the place, talk to them about helping you get a new one (if possible). It doesn't hurt to ask...
