Awww...Maybe keep them in an urn or something? I can't think of anything else unless you would want to spread them at his favorite park or the beach or something. My mom wants her ashes thrown out to sea.

I have that dilemma too. Lats month we had 2 cats out to sleep and the company said they just usually spread them over this park, but then my sister wanted the ashes. They really just sit there, and it makes me sad. I'd definie;y spread them somewhere special, don't keep them around the house!

We're definitely spreading them somewhere (although I secretly want to keep a tiny bit with some of her things ) ... but she was a city girl at heart, so there's no *special* park or anything ... and I'm thinking it would be a bit much to go to Jackson Heights & break into my old apartment to toss them from the windowsill she loved to look out from

And I feel like if we just put them in the backyard, I might get upset if Bailey or Max went potty near them! I know, I sound like a nut

How do you feel about hanging onto them? If you want to, put them in a nice urn and put them in a place of honor. A guy I knew did this with his dog when the the dog passed away.

If not, was there a park or garden that Hershey especially liked? You could spread, like people mentioned earlier.

When I was 5 I got my first dog Puffy, she passed when I was 20, she was very much apart of my family so when we got her ashes my mom bougth a pretty vase (not see through) and put the ashes in there and put a like doily thing over the top and tied it with a ribbon and it sits on our mantle.

Why not plant something in the backyard and sprinkle the ashes over it? That way there will be a memorial just for her.

We didn't even keep our cats ashes.

Well, you don't have to break into your old apt, but what about sprinkling some along the route you used to take to walk her?

Afterwards you can stop by my sister's place (she's in JH too) and she'll feed you homemade chocolate poundcake and tea to cheer you up!

I know with some thought and time, you'll know exactly what to do with Hershey's ashes. Don't feel the need to rush into anything into you are 100% certain that you'll make a decision you are happy with

In the meantime, I am sending you lots of (like 'em or not )

Why don't you scatter them from the pier in front of Danfords?

Re: So we have Hershey's ashes ...

wendy...how about going by astoria park, by that promenade by the water - by the triboro bridge...(that's close to jackson heights, right?)...you can spread her ashes into the water there, if you had a view of this area from your window, maybe that;s what she like to look at when she sat by the window....just a thought.

I was thinking about maybe the gazebo in Northport where our ceremony was ...

Thank you everyone for all the hugs, they really are appreciated

I guess we are in no *rush* but I feel a little guilty with them sitting in the tin in a gift bag from the mortuary (and maybe guilty is even the wrong word ...)

Thanks again everyone!
