So we haven't had a vent/pet peeve thread in awhile

Original post by marymoon

Let's try to keep it non-LIW related please!

I am really annoyed lately when people ask you a question the first time like they've already asked you 5 times..Do you know what i mean? I mean at least give me a chance to answer to or do what you want before you get testy with me!!!!!!!!

I'm also really annoyed about FH's job. They call him at ALL hours of the night. He has rotating night and weekend duty (and I have to deal with sleeping next to him with his beeper on), but that doens't even MATTER because they call him even when he's NOT on duty and make him work to fix whatever whether it's a saturday or 2am or what. last night he was supposed to come over, but then someone form the affiliate in texas called him at home with a probem..and I said 'what if you were already at my house' and he said 'they would have yelled at me for being unreachable' I had NO IDEA he was supposed to be on call 24/7. I HATE that. it really makes me SICK..I don't know why, but to does. I feel like they can invade our life at any moment, and he has no time when he's not working> Isn't being there 12+ hour a day good enough?

definitely people that are late, I hated it because I always try to be early.
When men take up all the space in the subway seats and don't even bother to move a little and you have to squeeze in.

maybe I expect too much but I hate it when men sit on the bus and don't offer their seats. I know it sounds crazy, but maybe I am on my period, maybe I have to go home to kids and cook and clean, whatever women have to do afterwork, I am sure it is more than a man

oooooh, i can soooo get flamed here

should i respond or shouldn;t i?

dilemmas dilemmas

I'd like to add my 2 cents on this one ladies!
vent:
A friend of mine is a copycat. Keeping in mind we're adults, mid age women. It doesn't matter what I get, she has to get the SAME thing.
examples:
I bought a dishwasher, so did she

I put my computer in the closet of my crafting room, she put hers in her bedroom closet.

I bought an under the cabinet pull out garbage pail, so did she.

I had an extention put on my deck to fit my bbq (so it didn't take up deck space), so did she.

There are just so many more things that she has JUST like me that there are to many to list. It just makes me want to keep banging my head against the wall. YIKES!

OK DOn maybe we don't agree - you mean people ALREADY in the elevator hitting the 'open door' button when they see someone coming? That I dont really mind

I don't like those people who are running for the elevator and will stick there hands into a one inch space just to REOPEN the doors so they can stuff themselves on... I know its not the worst thing in the world, but even if I'm running late I just wait for the next one..

The whole LIRR experience, especially the new cars.

I had a guy sit in the middle seat the other night with his pockets stuffed with stuff so he was x-tra wide on the seat. He had his hat, glvoes, cell phone, wallet and some gum and he was constantly taking things out of the pocket and putting them away.

I felt that I was getting sodomized!

I agree, in an ideal world there would be more gentlemen.

In Boston they were giving up their seats. my father raised both of my brothers to get up

People who can't park or drive their SUVs.

People who stand NEXT to you on line instead of behind you - like they're gonna cut if you they get the chance.

.

I agree with you if your car is too large for you to park like a normal person then don't freaking buy one!!!

The line thing, I can't stand the people that stand so far up your butt that they are breathing down our next. Does that extra 4 inches mean you are going to get through the line any faster!!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrr

I take Metro North, but we also have the new trains and I CRINGE everytime I see one and know I'm going to have issues with the lack of space.. I HATE THOSE TRAINS!

AGAIN - I HATE my personal space being invaded, and not to trash the men of the world but they truly are the WORST culprits of this .. even the way they spread their legs out when they are seated, and hold their newspapers WIIIDE OPEN , well it all just annoys the crap outta me

My biggest pet peeve is and always will be gum crackers. There's a woman in the office next to me who starts cracking away at 8am

My next biggest pet peeve is loud eaters - specifically the people at the movie theater who chew popcorn so loud it's like they have a megaphone next to their mouth

I think these are up there for me too. I get to my job before the other people I share my office with, and I have to leave when one of them comes in. Actually, when anyone eats in my office (it's the home away from home for some higher-ups in my region and also the food they microwave STINKS.

I hate gum crackers too. I always tell my students, I don't care if they have gum but I do not want to see it or hear it. Usually it works pretty well but I have been to meetings where people presenting stand up there cracking gum. I just find it really unprofessional.

not my DH, he waits till I get up and offer my seat, then he gets up. He says he will give it up for me, and I try to explain that she is someone else's wife so that if husbands would get it together and treat women how they would want their wives to be treated everyone would have a better commute. Mens shoes don't hurt as much either after the 9th hour of being in them

men on the train who think what's inside their pants is so big they need to spread their legs wide open and leave no room to sit next to them. listen teeny-peeny, close those legs, the one eyed dragon doesn't need that much air.
