So what happens if you go over your max....

Original post by ChrissynRicky

Our minimum is 120, our maximum is 150. We sent out invitations for 198 people. What happens if we end up having more than 150?

By the way - that whole '20% of your guestlist will say no...found it be false in my case since our family is ridiculously large (mom is one of 6 kids, dad is one of 13 kids...and each one of my aunts and uncles has at least 2 kids...) But ANYWAY....

I have the same problem! My mom is one of 6 and my Dad is one of 10. I have 42 first cousins alone!!! Thank God alot of them live overseas!!!

With regard to your question, I would ask your BM. Is your max # for comfort reasons or for fire safety reasons? I would check...

Apparently the bride had changed plan at last minute.

Now for my own experience, the bride invited 400 people HOPING 150 would say no. She does not know where to put them in the place and how to pay for it.

this is i believe kind of a cultural thing. in many latin america countries--they invite several hundred people, EXPECTING that anywhere between 50-80% will NOT show up. they simply invite ppl for the gifts.

i say this because my father is from peru--and his family out there have done this with all the weddings. for example my cousin was married and they SENT OUT 500 INVITATIONS!!! they then purposely had the wedding about 2 hrs. outside of Lima, Peru--so that it would be difficult for ppl to attend. They were then surprised when about 250-300 ppl showed up, and there wasn't enough food.

Also--out there, there is no such thing as RSVP--you send the invitations out and hope for the best, and you don't have a set time for when the party is over...it's till last man standing!!

I was wondering about this too. My max is 150 and I was going to invite 175-180. We pretty much know that a lot of FH family that live OOT won't come, but I am nervous to depend on that. It seems like I keep adding to the list, when I know I need to cut it back

sorry to burst your bubble chris but i think more than 150 would not be good in our room at all

i wound up with about 120 people and it was perfect. there we 11 tables and there room diagram has them set up for 13 tables. that is the max. i think it will be a tight sweeze

good luck!!!!

If you look on the FH website there are numbers given for the max the room can hold...I think you're using the same room I am(the WGP) and it can hold a lot more people without dancing so worst case scenario, like you said, you'll just lose some dance floor space. Good luck...I'll keep my fingers crossed for some more 'nos' for you!

We invited 201, 156 respones of yes and 5 no shows at the last minute. That last week or 2 will be mind boggling cause they will call and cancel after you have given the final head count to the hall.
But the no shows wont effect you ..You will be on top of the world that day!!!

This is really hard to say, you should never anticipate no's because when you do then you always get the yes's. My friends wedding was a MAX of 150 and she invited 175 hoping those 15 would come..... 4 said NO.. the hall was great though because they gave her a cocktail style partyt and made a lot more room...

But IMHO you should send out invites for those that the room can hold, and then have your B list once the no's come in... you also need to let your hall know right away about this situation so they can work with you and its not such a big annoying surprise a couple days before the wedding

Thanks for all your feedback ladies. I'm very confident that I won't have more than 160, but my room is comfortable with 120 (min) and a little tight with 150 (max)...just trying to do the math on spacing if I go over by one or two tables.

Darlene - thanks for reminding me about the dance floor! Totally forgot about that - and you're 99% right - we'll just lose some space on the dance floor if anything.

Chas - yes, running off together for a beach - totally sounds awesome right now! I can't believe I was 'calming' you down last week about the guestlist, and now look at me!

Sasha - I agree with every single thing you've said on this post. Thanks so much love!

Don't worry ladies, I'm not freaking out. I honestly don't care if we go over the max, I was just really curious to see if anyone went through this, and the hall responded negatively (we can't accommodate you) or whatever...

I know the WM has 'special' tables that hold up to 16 people (for use only under 'special' circumstances LOL) perhaps if they (Fox) don't have the etrxa long tables...they can borrow them from their cousins at the WM!

as long as the hall has a few days to get their ish together, they WILL acommodate you, I'm sure..

would you like me to be a NO, luv!
