So who's going to school next month?

Original post by marymoon

I'm going back after having to take a year off. I'm so nervous about it. And I'm trying to feel enthused even though I'm really not since I already did my thesis and everything. I'm a drama major and when you graduate you put your handprint up on the wall. I put mine up in May 2004 after I finished my thesis because my advisor said he considered me graduated. And I was so happy to have that ceremony with one of my best college friends. But anyway, going back is so anticlimatic now!

I don't think I can afford to go straight to grad school as I had planned. But thanks for reminding me. I need to take the GRE at some point. I'm so glad my thesis is over. I can't imagine having all of that stress at once! Good Luck!

I'm a theatre major. My thesis was directing a play, 'Death and the Maiden' by Ariel Dorfman. it involved a lot of research including psychology, politics, history, and more. It was the most intensely draining but also the most intensely invigorating experiences of my life. I hope your thesis will be as meaningful.

For me, the GRE will probably be my strong suit (i'm a good test taker) but since I'm applying to MFA programs, some of them won't even take GRE scores. They actually detroy them if you send them, and the programs that do take them only take them as supplemental info and don't place a lot of weight on them... The thing to remember though for most master's programs (except for me and my crazy fne arts) is that every aspect of your application is important. Your GRE score won't necessarily make or break you if you have a good GPA, good recs, a good essay, and relevent job experience. Goood Luck!

I kind of am going back to school and I'm kind of not going back.

I don't have any more classes, but I begin my internship in the fall, which is a requirement for my grad program. I am a matriculated student, as I am registered for both my internship and my doctoral project seminar. The seminar only meets twice, at the beginning of the semester.

It is weird that after ALL these years of school, I don't have classes. However, part of my internship involves seminars, so those are kind of like classes

Whatever, I still consider myself a student!

But i'm going to be working full time for the first time in my life, and I'm not going to have classes.

I guess I'm a student until I finish this d@mn doctoral project! I may be a student for the next 10 years!

Haha you'll get it done. Gotta love procrastination! I awear I only got through my thesis on time (not that it's comparable with your dictoral project) because we had to be at a certian place at a certain time. Without the pressure of an audience, I would still be wokring on it
