If so, how much earlier?? I booked for ceremony time @ 1:30....I was thinking 1:00 on invites....People are ALWAYS late, including myself.

I can't... there's a mass that ends at 12:30, so people will be leaving. My ceremony starts at 1:00 and then there's another ceremony right after us at 2:30 or 3:00... we have to be there ready to start at 1:00, whoever isn't there on time will have to sneak in the side. I'm nervous about the time... we won't even have enough time to do pictures outside the church or a R-line.

It seems like an awesome idea, but to a guest it completely su cks. I went to a wedding last Friday that supposedly started at 6:00 (what the invite said) but it didn't start until 6:30 (on purpose).
Everyone was there before 6:00 and people were REALLY pissed off, especially because so many people left work early and sped over to be at the wedding by 6:00. I think it's a little rude and inconvenient for your guests. As adults, people should know to get to weddings on time.

I'm not because the last wedding I went to I was there before a half hour earlier so I would be really frustrated if I had to wait even longer. I think it'll be fine with the actual time and if it's not then oh well! lol

i agree... im always on time, and i think people make it a point to be on time, they wouldnt want to walk in late on the ceremony, but if i was a guest id be pissed i had to wait another 30 min

Couldn't agree more. Why reward those who can't show you the respect of arriving to your ceremony on time, and punish those who make it a point to be there on time or actually probably even early??

the hall recommended putting hte earlier time, to allow for time to get through valet parking, coat check, get to the ceremony room and get seated. Also there will be a breakfast spread out for those who want to take some.

The ceremony room starts seating at 12, and the harpist starts at 12, so people will be able to get in the room and get comfortable. Our friends and family are notoriously late, and if we had put down 12:30, people would have walked in at 12:45

While I can understand that it may be frustrating, especially on a work day, it will alleviate some of the lateness by having people getting there, and as the hall said, getting through Valet parking, getting coats checked, getting to the ceremony room, looking around a little, etc.

ITA with this 100%!!! please rethink this girls...it isn't fair at all to the people that actually care enough to show up on time. If people are late, they don't see the ceremony. Too bad!!

I have had this happen to me as a guest and I found it extremely inconsiderate of the bride and groom to purposely decieve their family/friends just to accommodate a few a-holes with no manners who show up 20 mins late.

I agree with this, particularly if you are getting married at the RH since you just never know how long these things will take and may take longer if everyone gets there around the same time. I know its an inconvenience, but I'd rather people enjoy drinks and snacks than have them walk in while we are saying our vows.

For me, I'm definitey putting 30 mins b4 b/c I know most of my guests are coming from the city after work and they cannot control traffic.

Nope I'm not, I'm getting married at the RH and the banquet manager actually doesn't reccomend doing this...

also personally i'd be annoyed as a guest if an invitation said 4 oclock and it didn't start until 4:30 - no one wants to wait around for 45 minutes...

I actually really love having the 1/2 hour window from when the invitation is called to when the ceremony starts. I actually don't think I've ever been to a wedding that hasn't had that window.

Being able to relax and catch up with people Iyou haven't seen in awhile (with a glass of champagne in hand) before the ceremony in wonderful. I also think that it gives the late people ample time to deal with traffic and other things that may prevent them from getting to the ceremony on time.

That said, I'm giving a 1/2 hour.

im not sure. i dont want my early guests having to wait extra long for the later guests to arrive. the last thing i was is angry guests at my wedding !

No, if people are late then oh well! The ceremony will go on without them. I am always early for everything especially wedding so I would expect my guests to arrive on time.

I never even thought of this. I just assumed to put 7pm. I am always WAY early for everything so i can see how it would bother some people. I also think it would be a good idea just to get people settled...ahh, what to do! lol

Maybe I will say 6:45

We're putting down 30 minutes earlier for a start which will be a nice champagne greeting if they arrive on time anyway...

I definitely did. Half an hour earlier-I probably should've done more, haha. My friends, family, and myself are the late crew, lol.
