I have a 4 prong. I think it looks better this way and you can see more of the diamond's table.

Btw I was told that you should have your e-ring prongs checked yearly.

What's the 'table'? The slanted part of the diamond on the bottom?

That's it. The top part of the diamond that is flat.

I have a 6 prong setting. It's a bit unusual b/c two of the 6 prongs are attached to 2 of the remaining 4 to make a crown or tulip. I don't have a good picture to show you.

I have 4 prong ring which I love But I've heard 6 prongs are safer

I have a 4 prong setting for each of my stones in my three stone ring. Sometimes it makes me nervous, but my jeweler told me that even if it was slightly loose, it would rattle inside the setting. So I'm always shaking it next to my ear like a crazy person!

That's hilarious!!!

I'm like that right now too. I'm always checking to be sure the prongs are secure

IMO, a 4 prong setting makes the diamond look square, and a 6 prong setting makes it look round.

I have 4 and I think it makes my round solitaire look square. I like the 6 prong better.

I have a pear with baugettes, and its 5 prong...

I like the look of a solitaire round in a 4, but its more secure in a 6.

get whichever one you like the best. but if you do choose the 4 prong - get it checked every year. My Mom lost her diamond that was set in a 4 prong setting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have a 6 prong platinum custom-tiffany setting. the diamond looks very round and full. every jeweler i've talked to says the 6 is more secure than the four

I have a six prong...I am happy because I am so rough on my hands ~ if i had 4 I would probably be in big trouble...

I have 4 prongs on a round solitare in platinum. I reccomend six, because the diamond is more secure that way. Mine has already come loose twice in the past year.

People like 4 because you can see more of the diamond from the side.

I have six

I have a 4 prong-and our family jeweler keeps insisting on me changing it to 6 b/c if I bang my hand hard enough and lose 1 prong the diamond slips out where as with 6 you can lose one and save your diamond.

I have a 6. I think the 4 prongs give round diamonds a square look (JMO though) and 6 is a bit safer so I've heard. Also, the diamond sits higher when you have 6 prongs (which is why I chose 6 instead of 4). The only downside is that I'm always picking little hairs off of it b/c lint tends to get stuck in the prongs -- but that may just be my setting.
