Solitaire E-Rings.....4 or 6 Prong??

Re: Solitaire E-Rings.....4 or 6 Prong??

I have a 4 prong. I have heard 6 prong is safer but, FH and his friend liked the look of the 4 prong.

My stone sits low so I had a hard time picking out a wedding band to wear together with it because I needed to find something relatively flat if I didn't want a huge dip in it. I wanted the option to wear the rings separately if I decide to at some point.

I have six prongs because I looooooove the way it looks. I think you actually notice the prongs LESS with a six-prong setting... Also, the diamond appears a bit higher.

This is just my personal preference (You can see a pic of my e-ring setting as my avatar) Go with whichever setting you like more. If it's a good jeweler, either setting will be secure.

I have a 4 prong, which i love with my emerald-cut diamond, BUT last week one of the prongs cracked, and now I can't wear it until I get it re-set on Tuesday. UGHHHH! I've only had it for 2 months. So apparently, cracked prongs really are pretty easy to come by, and if you have a round diamond, I think 6 is the way to go.
